Can't say I blame the police for spraying the protestors, afterall they're trying to economically sabotage legitimate business in the High Street. If I was running one of the stores I'd unleash the hounds hehe

http://www.ukuncut.org.uk/

The above is the group who are protesting about large companies avoiding excessive tax (If I ran the companies I'd do the same thing). They basically believe that it's bad to cut public services but to allow large companies that provide thousands of jobs, pay millions in tax to avoid tax that they do not have to pay. In short, I get the impression that they want to force these large companies to relocate abroad as that's all that will happen if the cocktards continue their 'sit-ins'.

I am failing to see the point of the group and why they're protesting, surely they should be protesting against Labour for fking up the economy so badly that these light cuts have been required rather than companies which are helping the UK to survive through employment?

when will these idiots realise that tax avoidance is not illegal and its the name that is associated with it that makes people think they are not paying tax, when actually they are paying it, they are just amking sure they are not getting bent over.

Its actually tax optimisation and should be call that, you pay your fair share but make sure that you utilise the options given to you by the government to cut your tax bill by putting certain items through the business to reduce your overall tax liability.

Just another group of fktards that dont understand finance and I bet if you look at their organisation they do exactly the same.

Can someone passing by, ask them to find me a Premiership footballer on PAYE, and if not, then f*(k off down to the nearest ground, and protest there.

The middle aged lady protester yesterday on newsnight was hilarious - she was frothing at the mouth and almost shaking trying to explain that she was 'just trying to protest unfair distribution of income'.

Exactly. I paid my income tax yesterday after employing my accountant to ensure that any expenses which are tax deductible were taken into consideration. I therefore avoided paying some tax, because I wasn't legally obliged to.

The people in those videos above are mouth-breathing idiots. I wonder if they'd be happy to see more tax taken from their payslip? I bet not.

what we need is PAYE to be abolished and everyone on self assessment. This country will change completely in 2 financial years. And liebour will be extinct!
90% of these muppets have no idea of what taxation, corporate accounting or capitalism means! Once they get paid gross and pay their own taxes...they will learn the value of a sterling!

The only downside is that we will have to spend big on IRS style HMRC...I dont mind extra taxes for that.

Let me be the first to agree to that...

Then watch the same people claim its unfair the government want a huge wedge of cash and that they havent got it as they have spent it and demand someone else pay it for them, as its not their fault.

I assume that virtually none of them realize that they are avoiding taxes themselves. From the personal allowance, through no vat on children's clothes, to ISAs, just about everyone's up to it.

Is it suddenly immoral because the govt. demands that I work out the numbers myself, whereas these tts have it done for them automatically?

Protest seems rather misdirected to me. If the tax system allows big corporations to legally offshore everything, they should be shouting at those responsible for the legislation, not people who take perfectly legal advantage. Labour and/or HMRC have presumably had 13 years to fix this particular issue, but for whatever reason chose not to.

Tell me, would you say that Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali was using "tax optimisation" when he built up his $5bn fortune?

Would you say that not one large national or multinational company uses such techniques in their "accountancy"?

Just asking smile
