PC gone mad? Andy Gray sacked for banter
Discussion
Well, the PC brigade get another scalp.
Andy Gray is now sacked from Sky Sports for two off air elements of banter - one with a fellow male presenter, one with a female presenter.
A waste of talent thanks to PC society that cannot make the mental jump from offensiveness to humour whilst lightening up a working environment.

Yeah, let's bring back Ron Atkinson while we're at it!
I reckon there's more to this for him to suddenly be sacked today?
Got sod all to do with Atkinson - he was a racist.

Yup new evidence of another incident. The repeat criminal was in a room setting up a production with a mixed sex team when one girl was tucking her microphone cable into her clothing. In a room with other people, he jokily asked her to "tuck this in for me" whilst fumbling around his flies. Pure banter - totally inoffensive to pretty much anyone with half an ounce of sense.
It's a great cost cutting opportunity for sky; Gray earns a lot of money.
Nobody watches sport on the tv as a direct result of who talks over the top. I reckon he's a bit too big for his boots anyhow.
One down, one to go.
Keys' hairy hands annoy me enough to want him replaced by themselves.

??????
I'd say with the combination of Sky technology, a good experience and knowledge of his subject matter, and a natural presentation style, he was pretty competent. Sky obviously thought so too paying him a vast amount of money with no real concern until he made his supposedly private gaffes.
I really hope that their rating slump over this - not so much for losing a presenter, but for the purely PC reasons why he went.
Have never liked Andy Gray but I don't think he should have been sacked over this. Verbal/written warning yes, not sacked.
I imagine Sky were just looking for a way to dismiss him without having to offer him a huge pay off (been with Sky for around 20 years and was on a massive salary).
They'll now bring in someone younger, cheaper (and better looking

Well over the top. Perhaps people (like Clarkson) should never say women cannot drive. I suspect as I write, lawyers are checking through tapes.
It was a specific comment against a particular individual - which ramps it up quite a bit.He was an idiot and should have known better.

You are not wrong there. He appeared to be in one of those positions where all he had to do was give them a reasonable excuse to terminate his contract...Martial Arts Man said:

Not strictly true. Although it is perhaps truer to say that people have been known to turn off from a sport as a direct result of who talks over the top. All you need to do is look at the threads on the Motorsport Forum or ask any of the 1,000's of people who used to watch the cricket on the TV with the sound off and Radio 4 Longwave in the background!!!Victor McDade said:

The problem is he's a sexist earning £2m a year that Murdoch wants rid of. He is allegedly suing his boss for phone hacking....
