I hate Galloway's politics, but I really admire his debating skills. It made for riveting television.

Seeing Campbell get a good kicking from a fellow leftie was very satisfying.

Yeah but Campbell showed what a skilled operator he is with a return serve quoting verbatim Galloway's fawning speech to Saddam:

"Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, and your indefatigability"

I liked the fact that he did the accent as well...

Though Paddy N Murphy is right, both loathsome characters in different ways, only one of them has done long term harm to the standing and character of the entire nation though.

Just watched this on iPlayer, Alastair Campbell really is an utter . I'd love it if some sort of scandal broke which completely ruined his life.

Smiler.

I thought Campbell came across as the nauseating turd we know so well.

Any longer though & I expected playground dialogue

"yeah, but what are you"

Frankly I'd prefer it if someone just put a bullet through his head.

I'd much prefer public humiliation; a bullet would be too quick!

I have a lot of respect for George Galloway. I may dissagree with 95% of his politics, but he is a man of principle, and doesn't take any crap.
Totally agreed. I still think he's odious but he went up in my estimation when he gave the Senate Committee a good run for their money a few years ago. I wonder if that's on YouTube?

I'd agree with that. Very astute man. Loved it when he quoted full after Dimblewasp had tried to show him up!

And seeing as I have money on the coalition not lasting anywhere near a term, I was grinning wide when I heard Galloway say 'a General Election might be much closer than anyone thinks' referring to the disintegration of the Lib/Dems.
So, I'm not alone! biggrin

Coalition will implode. 15 months.

I remember the bookie chuckling, shouldn't that be 'David'? when I bet (just after the GE) on 'Ed' Milliband becoming Lab leader.

I wouldn't go that far.

For example, Galloway does a lot of work to hightlight the suffering of Gazans and those in the West Bank. He also campaigns for democracy for countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Yet, at the same time he sees no issue with taking money from the Iranian government (he works for Press TV) nor does he have a problem cozying up with the leaders of Hamas or other dictators in the Middle East like Assad of Syria.

He refused to condemn the violence and rape against Iranian protestors (post the recent election) yet is happy to condemn other nations for doing the same thing.

That said, he's a fantastic orator and whilst I disagree with most of his viewpoint there is something about him you have to admire (his performance in the senate for example was brilliant).

As others have said, some of his morals are a bit dubious, but you can't help but admire the way he cuts through the spin and guff that is modern politics, and just comes out and says what he actually thinks.

He seems to me to be just about the last old school politician with genuine passion and not just an eye on the party line, staying on message or spouting a prepared soundbite.
