As a muslim I find these posters deeply deeply offensive. Who the fk do these Islam4UK people think they are? I respect christianity and I respect christmas - what gave them the fking right not to? Go back to another land if these things offend them so much.

Surprise Surprise it's the same bunch from wootton bassett. Can't we lock them up for inciting hatred or something?

Most people ignore it, unfortunately there is going to be some who'll use it to whip themselves into a frenzy.

Fortunately we have freedom of speech in this country, that means that unfortunately we have idiots who do things like this, so we just tend to ignore them.
The trouble is that when the other 'sides' idiots do something that is offensive to Muslim's all hell breaks loose - usually instigated by the same idiots who put this poster up.

The majority of muslims I know (me included) do not share any of the views of these nutters, yet they make themselves out to be spokespersons for the lot of us. They'll hide behind public demo's and websites because they know if they made their views known in a mosque or muslim gathering they wouldn't get very far.

Indeed.

Unfortunately, the media latch on to these 'fringe' groups (same with the likes of the EDL) and give them sooo much air time as that is what, ultimately, will sell their media!

I love religeous nutters. They're compared night clubs to rape, paedophillia, and all sorts of other tasteful stuff. I realise that The Boat in Newcastle is a serious crime, but sure;y it's not quite in the same class as non consentual sex with a minor?

I think one of the problems may be that some of the more ‘radical’ muslims are ‘radical’ simply because they think that ‘we’ fear them – it gives them a sense of empowerment.
If the governments and media give so much lip service to this type, no matter what faith/colour/creed, they will inevitably act the same – they love the spotlight, and will say and do almost anything to stay in it.

It only takes a few people of any view to cause a ruckus, hopefully it will blow over.

I wish they wouldn't, but then whats going to look more sensational on TV - a nutter with a hook screaming to kill the infidels, or a boring professional from west london who's wife has convinced him to take her to a take that concert?

Meh. JUst reinforces the stereotypes I have of anyone who is "into" Religion of any sort. ie selfish, living in a dreamland and narrow minded.

The most irritating thing about that poster is that while I appreciate the sentiment, it doesn't make sense. The evils listed are those of the Western world, granted, but they've got nothing to do with Christmas specifically.

The thing is though, where does this become 'inciting racial hatred' or whatever the legal term is?

Not that I would- but i'd fully expect to get in pretty deep sh-ite (see what I did there) in the current climate if I wrote on a wall 'Islam is Evil' or similar...

Thoughts?

The thing is, besides your good self, how many Muslims would stand up and be heard against the so called "nutters"? I've never heard a single Muslim denounce the actions of the radical few.

Don't see much in it to be honest. If some comdian had done ( and many have ) a song mocking that Christmas carol, the country and some celebrity then no one would give a toss.
This is a world away from what they did at Wootton Bassett. Please don't rise to these idiots, they want a reaction on something stupid and without much meaning. Please save it for when they try another 'Wootton Bassett'.

How many muslims do you know? I'm quite lucky that in my broad social circle I know quite a few, and whenever a discussion like this comes up there is no question about peoples views against extremism. Nutters like IslamforUK wouldn't be given the time of day.

Our voices don't get heard because they're not very controversial and won't sell many papers would they?

They shouldnt have to.

But also there have been a few marches about this kid of thing - usually after the other violent ones in London, but funnily enough they didnt get all the airtime the violent ones did.

As an atheist they don't offend me in the slightest.

It's a shame the people who write them are too dumb to realise that the western liberal democracy they rail against is exactly the status quo that allows them the freedoms to write such tosh, but hey ho, I can't make everyone bright can I? smile
