So, with more revelations, will the coalition hold together, or now that 4 LibDems have been caught out, should the UK be gearing itself up for a GE, and possibly a Prime Minister Milligland?

The latter would be hysterically out of his depth (plus ca change there then...)

Hysterical for someone living in Singapore perhaps. Less amusing for us locals.

I doubt it very much. More like Cleg giving them all a roasting, its their only chance of ever being anywhere close to power, everyone knows its a Tory government and they are just making up the numbers. Its like in school when your picking the football team and all the st players are left till the end - "Ok we will have Tubby, you can have shorty" Its pretty much the same with the Lib Dem party. They will hang on till the death.

I think a good verbal kicking will be issued to all who need it; I doubt very much whether there will be a need to go to the country in the next 12 months.

Seeing Miliband in charge would be interesting, if not amusing. In a "watching a car crash in slow motion" kind of way. The bloke is going to take two years just to undertake a slight reorganisation of a political party (when, as leader, he should be going "Right, you useless, couldn't-win-a-fixed-election-in-Zimbabwe s. This is how it's going to be. The door's there if you don't like it, because you s had your chance, blew it, and now I'm in charge.") so quite how he's going to operate on the weekly or even daily timescales involved in actually running the country, I have no idea.

Or alternatively the Liberals could split, as they did the last time the were in coalition with the conservatives, and a rump Liberal party could keep the Conservatives in power for the full five years.

It is not in the Liberals interest to have an election now. The coalition is putting through all their unpopular policies at the start of their time in office. In four years time the situation may be much improved.

I do think Cable should have gone tbh, however beyond that, all this strikes me as little more than "tittle tattle" and the sort of stuff you'd hear in any office across the country if someone bothered to record all their conversations and comb through them for the occasional snippet.

Doesn't exactly seem like "breaking news" IMO.

Said it before at the start. Coalitions never last.
15 months I said, which means it will be (GE) in 2012.

It's gonna let NooLab back in if not careful.

Strangely, these are the Lib-Dem and Tory colours...

The BBC seem to be really enjoying this 'turbulence' in the coalition.

confused Based on what? Germany has existed for ages with coalitions, pretty successfully.

Or do you just mean coalitions in the UK?

There is no chance whatsoever of the LibDems bringing the government down. It's the one chance they will ever have of having any kind of power and they aren't going to let go easily. Of course they will kick up a bit here and there, just to show their voters that they are doing what they can, but that is as far as it will go.

This government will go the full 5 years.

It doesn't realy matter anyway.

No matter who wins an election we are all in the same st.

It's not as though the PM runs the country anyway.

I think recent events shows that Clegg has no control over his party. Let's face it, he's far to the right of most Lib Dems, if he were to try a show of strength he'd fine himself quickly returned to the back benches.

Hopefully this joke of a government will collapse and we can get back to a single party government ASAP

You looking for a Labour return?

"Tonight’s YouGov poll for the Sun has topline figures of CON 40%, LAB 42%, LDEM 9%. The small Labour lead in YouGov’s daily polling looks like it’s being consolidated. Meanwhile net government approval is down to minus 19, the lowest the coalition government have recorded so far.
UPDATE: There is also a new Angus Reid poll, topline figures are CON 35%(nc), LAB 41%(+1), LDEM 9%(-4). I think that six point lead is the biggest Labour have recorded so far this Parliament, and it’s only the second pollster to show the Lib Dems in single figures. Others are presumably up to around 15%, which I think is also the highest any company has shown so far this Parliament."

No it isn't. Won't matter what the local results are, if they let this chance go they won't have another chance of power in their lifetimes.

If they are thrown out of town halls across the country and the AV referendum doesn't go their way the party will leave the coalition. They are being destroyed in the polls because they have given up their principles for power.

It's also worth remembering that the local parties can remove Clegg. So if they take a hiding and he refuses to change direction those lovely local councillors who are now on the dole will be able to kick him out.
