A CAR involved in a devastating crash which left a two-month-old baby dead fled the scene of the accident last night sparking a manhunt.
Cops are hunting the occupants of the vehicle after the horrific smash in the West Midlands.
Officers say at least four people were travelling in the Mitsubishi Evolution but left the scene before officers arrived.
It had crashed with a Toyota Corolla carrying the tot in Smethwick, West Mids, shortly after 6pm.
The baby boy was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital but could not be saved.
He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A 24-year-old woman travelling in the Toyota suffered multiple injuries and remained in hospital today - her condition was described as critical but stable.
Inspector Mark Watkins, from the force traffic department, said: "I would again appeal to anyone who can provide any information regarding the Mitsubishi, registration number R54 RMW, or its occupants and I would like to make a personal appeal specifically to those occupants to contact police."

ds get caught soon
the ones in the same car were the father, mother and grandfather - the critically injured was a aunty of the baby.
my inlaws went down to see them the father was on oxygen support and first thing he was asking was about the baby.
they're saying the mitsubushi was going 70+mph - the police have said they're close to identifying them. i doubt they'll hand themselves in.

The car isn't registered.

ds! I really hope they do catch the cultprits and throw the book at them. God knows what the family of said baby must be going through
Condolences to the family.
I very much doubt the car will be on any forums. People who do this sort of thing are not usually part of any online community/car club, worth a punt though.

out of curiosity 4 adults in the same car , how was the baby secured , because if it was in a cabriofix that would take up at least one seat ?my inlaws went down to see them the father was on oxygen support and first thing he was asking was about the baby.

I cannot see how the car can be "unregistered". There must be a document somewhere showing who it belongs to. The accident was on Saturday, so even if it was sold on that day, I would imagine/hope that any time soon the V5 should arrive at Swansea, showing the new owner. Assuming the police have already visited the current registered keeper, they would have obtained the name/address of the new owner, if indeed it was sold on or just before Saturday?

What does critical but stable even mean......
I think it means that they are in a bad way but not deteriorating so basically they are a bit f***ed up but with treatment should improve. But really, what kind of human being leaves their baby for dead in a crashed car?!?!?!
