Discussion
It was caught by a news camera, so far no one is owning up to firing it!

It's a plane, the only people that think it isn't are the people that filmed it, the newsroom and tinfoilers. Try watching the video without your aluminium headgear.
“The aircraft is flying towards the observer; the air over the Pacific is clear, so the contrail is visible all the way to the horizon. This creates the optical illusion of a rocket flying up, rather than the actual situation of an airplane flying horizontally,” Pike tells Danger Room. “The object generating the contrail is moving too slowly to be a rocket; the contrail is not expanding as the ‘rocket’ gains ‘altitude’ — which would be the case as the exhaust plume expanding into less dense high altitude air.”
"This wouldn’t be the first time a plane was mistaken for a missile. On New Year’s Eve, an aircraft was photographed above San Clemente, California, looking eerily missile-esque. In December, 2008, there was a similar case of mistaken identity when a plane flew near the coastal town of Carmel."
“The short explanation is that we don’t see a lot of jet contrails head-on, especially from the vantage point of a helicopter. So, it looks like a missile to everyone else,” writes Danger Room alum (and New America Foundation analyst) Jeffrey Lewis. “But it probably isn’t.”
“That would explain why no one else in L.A. saw a missile launch other than the helicopter crew — or, rather, why everyone else from every other angle saw a typical jet contrail — and why [America's missile-warning system] didn’t light up like a Christmas Tree.”

Well, that's pissed on Hedder's tin-foil wrapped chips....“The aircraft is flying towards the observer; the air over the Pacific is clear, so the contrail is visible all the way to the horizon. Tin hat on; that aeroplane has a luminescent yellow/orange arse, and the biggest vapour trail I've ever seen.
Jimmy hat on; the anchor woman you see for a second at the end is hawwwt.
You see that post above yours?Jimmy hat on; the anchor woman you see for a second at the end is hawwwt.
The photo' in the middle?
That's of a scheduled flight from Honolulu.
It looks exactly the same.
Must admit I thought it was odd when I saw the on the beeb last night but did not give it much attention. My first thought was either way the conspiracy web site traffic will be up this morning. On reflection it seems to fit a plane. But that won't get in the way of a good "evil gubbmint out to get us" person.
Sensible non alarmist non youchube non ATS related link

The only people that noticed this were the person filming and the pilot of the helicopter. No-one on the ground saw anything out of the ordinary.
Everyone that sees the stills and the video has the same reaction, even it seems, the Pentagon. However they don't have all the facts. They're just shown an image and asked to explain it, surprise, they can't. Must be a cover up.

People are going to latch on to the reaction of the military and other official orgs. Funny in a way, they disbelieve them when they want to and use them when it suits them.
I see no apparent sign of staging. Plume is not expanding and the blip at the end changes colour curiously the same as aircraft lights do? And the west coast of the US left its camera at home?
Edit. Ain't the web a wonderfuel place

Your life must be such fun. A trip to the shops must be like an episode of Spooks in your head.
