Should be interesting to watch this. Such total destruction. The roads look newish, or at least aren't pitted with shell holes, must have been built to try and sort the mess out.

Sadly people would have been saying the exact same thing when that footage was taken

Yes, I imagine so.

Still, since the next skirmish, it has been peaceful around here, and I can't see it happening again.

That, is just epic. Every square inch of land is just crater ontop of crater.

Really puts it into perspective the hell hole people endured frown

I think the lack of knowledge of WW1 relates to the fact that it's very difficult to glorify in films. WW2 action is easy to do in comparison.

One would think if there was there wouldn't be many people around to film it.

Compared to WW2 however the damage was very localised. Air bombing inflicted a tiny, tiny amount of damage on Britain and Germany. If we ignore the economy and loss of life most of Europe that was behind the lines would have looked the same as it did in 1914

Yep.

Whilst the devastation at the frontline was immense - way beyond what was seen at the front in WW2 except at places like Stalingrad - it was extremely local; no more than a mile or two either side of the front in most places (allowing the odd shift in front lines).

WW3 will be fought with nuclear weapons

WW4 will be fought with bows and arrows.
