The argument for all forms of hunting seems to be that if you prevent it there will be little reason to keep the environment as it is (a good place for big stags to grow up) and therefore someone will come along and build another stty housing estate on it.

So dead stages or more barratt homes. Which is worse?

Just shooting it and leaving the carcass lying there is a total disgrace IMO.

However, magnificent as he was, stags do need to be culled every couple of years. Unfortunately they end up fking their own daughters...

Agreed.

I'm not averse to shooting at all. In fact quite fond of grouse, high duck or pigeon but at least make use of the meat after you have shot it.

This trophy hunting thing seems a little pointless to me...

was under the impression that the meat was put to good use, shame that the trophy hunters cant be made to arrange removal to a butcher's esp as it would reduce the cost of the kill

people leaving kills where they die are wkers

Sorry, Ive been being thick. I thought they had just shot it and then left it and I was wondering what was the point of that. Ive just realised you actually mean, shot it, cut the head off it and then left it?

Now that *does* make me angry as that isnt hunting or field sport at all. It isnt buchery, its simply murder and that goes against the grain of the concept. As pretty much everybody who has been involved in country sports will tell you.

I'm sure this is trivial and irrelevant. Much more important to prevent the shooting of foxes and prosecute people for cats and wheelie bins etc.

Seems a bit strange to leave it. Can't they take it home and eat it?

That's exactly the point. Kill and eat? Fine.

Kill why? For "fun"? Sick.

I can't see a large stag making for good eating. It would feed dogs though.

I'm not sure I understand the fuss. Anyone who lives near Tatton Park in Cheshire will be only too aware of the numbers of deer shot dead annually. You can hear the guns cracking away for days.
