He did something stupid and regretted it later. After reading the article, I kinda have more respect for him.

A truly stupid thing to say, but he admitted his mistake.

Understandable, emotional offer to make, especially in the situation he was in.

Heard James on radio earlier - horrible journalism at it's best/worst. They wanted to play the "he wants to buy a baby" line but he just played it straight...."I was emotional, kids dying all around....I wanted to help the child live" Came across as a very decent bloke in a situation 99.9% of people will never find themselves in.

What he's doing out there is far beyond the efforts of most business people.

Also noticed some Daily Mail retards saying he shouldn't try and raise £500k...he should just write out a cheque because he is worth xyz.

PS. Sad truth is the kid he didnt "buy" has grim chances, like all the kids out there. (maybe if he pulled the kid out of a wheelie bin he'd get more sympathy?)

Just a simple mistake when emotion got the better of him. I'm a big fan of his charity work and the fact he uses his status and money in order to help out those much less fortunate than himself. His book was a good read and an eye-opener!

If it was the same situation in this or another country, would James have still offered a suffering family money so he can give his brother a kid ? I don't think the thought would have even entered his mind.

Adoption on the other hand, which he later tried to pass it off as, is a totally different thing altogether. The family of the child would more than likely be in control maybe asking him to give the child a better life as they couldn't cope or if the child was, or to become, an orphan. Even if he asked if his bother could adopt the child would have sounded better than just offering money. I know money would probably at the end of the day be exchanged in some way or another, but it's the way the exchange takes place makes the difference is it not ?

So for a man of his position and social standing, what on earth made him think he can say such a thing to these people as if they would just hand over their own flesh and blood for a few quid? Saying emotion came over him seems a bit off a lame excuse to me, he seemed to me in total control of what he was saying.

I have no idea what it like over there so can't really comprehend what the people are going through, but I think whatever the situation, the thought of offering money for a child wouldn't even enter my head, no matter how much money I had.

Video for those that want to see it. What a bloody pleb.
I agree with the above poster that he knew exactly what he was saying. "I'm deadly serious" he says.

two things that the video misses.....the village he was at was screwed. kids there die, that kid....may well die. he is surrounded by death and poverty. and, he talks like that - he is very monotone and it sounds calculating and cold, which he isnt.

"I'll give you 1500 pounds, but I'm going to want 40 percent of your baby"

Caan is dissapointed when fellow dragons Dookan and Meaden step in with a counter offer

"we'll give you the 1500 for 15 percent of your baby each, but we want 50 percent of the dog as well"
