Got a letter from them asking for £700 for allegedly downloading one of their films, seems Sky gave up their customers details as recently reported.

Whats the advice here? Do they have any grounds?

The letter I have seems to be from Golden Eye International Ltd - no mention of ACS.

Had a quick look at their website, and the whole thing reeks of a scam, although I guess it might not be, given the ACS:Law events. I suppose the first thing to do would be ask THEM to prove they own the copyright to the film they are accusing YOU of up/downloading, in order to satisfy you that it's not just a scam, can't be too careful etc etc.

I've just sent back a flat denial & told them I consider their letter a threat and a gross invasion of privacy.

I guess there's also the issue of how they got your details and whether or not they've broken the DPA in the process? All rather fishy!

I think the cat's very firmly out of the bag with this little scam now, these 'law firms' are going to have to find another money spinner.
