Oh dear, oh dear Mr Swinney (et al). Your nice, taxpayer sourced, feather cushioned life about to dissappear??

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-11547485

"which may see Holyrood's budget next year cut by £1.1bn."

Only £1.1Bn ? Excellent start to dismantling this abortion of non-democracy.

No doubt the last to feel the crunch will be the self-effacing so called political elite.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8369849.stm

However there is the beginning of a groundswell that this Holyrood fiasco has, in it's present form, run it's course.

hang on a sec, have I understood this right: if Scotland stay in the union, they lose £1.1Bn. But doesn't Westinster give them something like a £5Bn subsidy already? So if they leave, they get even less right?

As an aside, does anyone actually know any Scottish people who want independence? I have quite a few Scots friends and I don't

Nope, I work in scotland a lot and there is a lot of banter between us, but that is all it is. The majority, I believe, know independence won't work.

On the other hand if they get independence, England is £5bn a year better off?? scratchchin it might be us who can no longer afford the union.....

Aren't there already a fair number of devolved areas of self-determination ? If these haven't created any difficulties for anyone then why not gradually extend them ? Obviously quite a few people equate devolution/independence with friendship, but far more don't, and if independence might be better for both Scotland and England then why not try it? Doesn't mean we have to fall out with each other. In fact it doesn't even make sense that we should.
