See what I did there?

Shame. At least he died doing what he loved.

Just seen this this morning, its pretty sad. Normally I wouldnt turn a blind eye to a story like that, but the company I work for did a little bit of work this guy, first for his business then for him personally. I met him a couple of times and he was the nicest person you could imagine - he was smart, and down to earth, a self made millionaire who worked his staff hard but always looked after them and I think they all respected him. He also gave huge amounts of money away to charity ever year.

After we had installed some stuff for him he came to see us, obviously did the whole profesional thing with the directors but he also came down and personally thanked the lads down in the factory, and we got a really nice little penknife from him. A small, but very much appreciated gesture.

His company Hesco Bastion is just on Cross Green right round the corner from me, he grew up on Halton moor I believe.

Shame.
He was a bit a local legend, its a real sad story. as said - he'd just recently given another 10 million pounds to charity.

He was the guy behind Hesco Bastion, and behind Segway also?

Unrelated but I used a lot of Hesco products last year. Does exactly what it says on the tin...

And from what I gather from the Hesco product itself, it has done a lot keeping our boys safe out in Iraq & Afghanistan. Sorry to see this news.

Yup, Hesco Bastion. I'm driving past tonight after work i am predicting there to be a bit of a scene.
He bought the rights to segway in the UK or something.

Petrolhead too - we sold him some stuff which I beleive was for his personal 'boys toys' building where he housed his Helicopter, Bentley and Mustang I'm led to believe.

Those 2 products are chalk and cheese - one is a bulletproof build-it-yourself building block, after a fashion, and the other is a gyroscopic personal transportation device!

Sounds like an interesting guy. RIP.

No. Its a crap headline.

The man made his millions by settign up Hesco Bastion. His products have been sold to just about every armed force in the world I think, and Nato / UN.

He just owned Segway in the UK or something as an aside.

Found out about this last night, my mum and her sisters know him from growing up around Holton Moore, and one of my next door neighbours was doing some work for him when he told us about what had happened.

I too live round the corner from his business, from what I gather he's done a lot for local communities around here I know he put a bit of money in to a cheerleading team my sister was part of, like a lot have already said some of his products are protecting our boys over in Iraq/Afghanistan isn’t there an exhibition on it in the royal armouries?

Great shame. I would see an irony in it if he was some form of zealot who preached the evils of other forms of transport but from the sounds of it, its more likely he bought the company seeing a bit of potential but ultimately cause the products are pretty desireable to a gadget-head.

He was the "friend of a friend". Looked after his workforce. Expected a lot but would give it back, took them off for a holiday after one arduous period. Took his mates away as well with no airs about doing it. I do believe he did drive his local planning authority mad though. He was a petrolhead as well sponsoring Porsche's in British and World GT racing.
