DON'T fkING COME HERE THEN.

i hate to dive straight into ad hominem tactics, but the fact a grown man who still blieves in the fking tooth fairy is coming out with this is laughable.

added to which, why does a representative of the catholic church think calling a country third world is an insult. surely they should be sympathetic to places which legitimately are considered so.

fking ahole.

It's the pope... Why anyone listens to him is beyond me. He makes as much sense as David Icke.

Well, you can take it 2 ways... Either he is saying that the UK is a 3rd world country, OR you can take it as a quite racist comment on the people populating Heathrow...

That may be well and true, but for the Pope to come out with such a comment is beyond the pale.

but he's totally correct. Arriving at Heathrow is a real eye opener, confusing many who thought they landed in the UK. It's a smelly cesspit of a place and one of the worst airports in the world.

As for getting outside of Heathrow and seeing the rest of the place hehe

Totally agree with the statement.

He's never been to Naples (or anywhere south of it) then?

(Wasn't The Pope who supposedly said it actually)

It wasn't actually the Pope, though, was it?

I don't think the Pope actually said it. It was some other Cardinal chappie - who has suddenly developed a bout of gout (I like a bit of assonance) and won't be coming to the UK now.

Except for Terminal 5 which is one of the best. But I agree on the staff point.

4 was/is not to bad either. 1-3 a disgrace.

Then again CDG or AMS are hardly pleasant.

It wasn't the Pope, it was Cardinal "Catastrophe" Kasper.

He's got a point through - most of Heathrow is a complete armpit, and if they were landing on the easterly runways, he would have looked out of the window on the approach and seen Slough.....

Any British airport makes you feel like its third world, the toilets airside will be closed or a mess, the walls in need of a paint etc. The designs for the most part look like someone was told use concrete, here's a set square get on with it.

eh? I was a Gold level frequent flyer with BA (for 20 years). After a few attempts at using T5, I gave up. What a dump. It's simply a shopping mall with miles to walk to most of the gates. The security setup must be the worst in Europe, constant queues and staff shouting at people who are paying their wages. The courtesy buses from the car rental companies don't even take you to departures on the upper level, they dump you at arrivals on the ground level. The place is designed purely for those working there and NOT for those paying to use it. I've never set foot in the place again and now fly with Star Alliance using T1 (When I have to use Heathrow at all, I simply try to avoid it completely).

I live just outside of Salisbury, I can leave my front door, arrive at Terminal 5 short stay, park, check in and clear security in under an hour......works for me. I go through there every week and I think its ace, it has a Hugo Boss area in Harrods, a Mappin & Webb and a Starbucks, happy Days.
