...for 8 weeks. Probably be the first in the queue for the showers and picking up the soap.

Oh sorry, I thought it read "George Michael went down"; I was wondering why that was news. I stand corrected.

I assume you are being sarcastic; you know, lack of body language on the internet and all?

Nope.

He had an accident, injuring no one, whilst stoned.

Do we jail everyone that has an accident whilst pissed? Not even close.

Hence, harsh sentence.

I don't have any sympathy with him and his drug taking - OK , take drugs...you're loaded - take taxis or hire a chauffeur if you're going to drive.
If anything, I'm surprised he hasn't got a chauffeur.

Are you joking?? He didn't injure anyone that time, thank God! If he is not punished and an attempt made to change this behavior, perhaps next time he runs over and kills a member of your family. He crashed into a shop FFS due to being stoned, not because of an honest accident!

But he's done it a few times now, and hasn't changed his habits.

He's spent the last 4 years smashing up cars and shops where I live. He has had countless warnings and now we get 8 weeks when we can park our cars on the street and not have him smash it up biggrin

He is a silly sod who hasn't listened and has been left with no other option.

So what you're essentially suggesting is that driving whilst pissed is somehow better?

Bound to happen.

Drugged off his face, drives, has a crash. Causes damage. Could have easily run someone down and killed them.

He's lucky he didn't kill someone, as he'd be looking at seven years for that.

Plus, he's done this at least once before. The police found him at traffic lights in his Range Rover, engine running and fast asleep because he was off his face.

Imagine if this had been a 19 year old burglar in a stolen car. We'd all be crying for VBRJ. Same thing should apply here. It doesn't matter who you are, you cannot get in a car when you're p155ed or stoned. You just don't.

Stupid idiot. It might wake him up.

Fair enough if he's been nicked for it a few times prior.

WTF? No! As an example, driving pissed or stoned here draws the same penalty; driving impaired is driving impaired regardless of what substance caused it. The public is exposed to enough danger from ordinary traffic mishaps, they deserve to be protected from the increased threat of idiots that routinely drive drunk/high.

I think he has been to court twice in the UK for this stuff but also let off with repeated cautions. He's smacked up cars in Knightsbridge, Cricklewood, West Hampstead and Hampstead. There are many more incidents where he has been given the benefit of the doubt when others would not have.

Right, so you're suggesting that anyone who is caught intoxicated, hitting stationary objects should be jailed?

What, the fourth or fifth time, yes! He's well known in West London as a MASSIVE stoner who gets in his Rangie and drives around while he's c unted!! It's NOT ON. He's no better than a stoned car thief.

Should be cited, and if repeatedly, as in his case, yes.....jailed. They hit the object due to being intoxicated; it is a quite simple concept really, consequences for one's actions.
Here each state has differing laws; however, for the most part, drunk/stoned driving has you picking up trash along the interstate 5 weekends in a row while the second offense has you in jail.
