Madrid - A Saudi Arabian air force officer was killed Tuesday when a Spanish Eurofighter plane crashed, Spanish military sources said.

The plane's Spanish pilot ejected before the crash, and came away virtually unharmed.

The crash occurred shortly after the plane had taken off from the air base of Moron de la Frontera, near Seville.

Spain has agreed to instruct Saudi pilots in the use of the Eurofighter, which is made by a European consortium including the Spanish EADS-CASA.

The Saudi victim had the rank of lieutenant-colonel. The Spanish army was investigating the causes of the accident

I presume the Saudi "soldier" was actually a Saudi "airman" of some sort and he was in a two seat Typhoon?

Quite surprised Eric didn't point out that it should be "one fewer".
