He was good at snooker and no doubt gave many people pleasure through that and i suppose he was a bit of a character, who made many laugh.....other than being a fellow human being though, he wasn't the best example of a good person! (at times)

Nevertheless, rest in piece Alex, i enjoyed your ways and the way you were 'different' for the game of snooker.

I remember seeing him in Newmarket one night about 15 years ago. A friend and I were walking back from a pub when this figure came walking towards us. He was swaying a bit and carrying a snooker cue holder. He said "Evening guys" and carried on up the road. It was then we realised who it was. A great talent but one with many demons. RIP Alex.

Shame.

Real character - in a "bit of a nutter" sort of way. From an era when snooker was booze 'n' fags rather than a bottle of sparkling water....

In a strange way I feel like part of my childhood has gone with his death... I remember watching snooker till the small hours with my Dad.

Great shame and a loss to the world of snooker.

I could never warm to the guy. No matter how good he was - even in the sport he brought about an unsavouriness and drop in professional behaviour which luckilly, not too many copied.

His bad side totally overshadowed his snooker abilities, in my opinion. And, he appears to have paid the price for the lifestyle he chose.

Throat cancer, apparently. Have a read of "C" and you will understand what Alex possibly went through.
