banghead Dear, oh dear. One would assume, somewhat cynically that if the stupid
child is killed, the railway company would be blamed?

The comments make enjoyable reading.

How/why is he not lying blackened, twitching and smoking on the tracks? Unless he's a fking acrobat, he ought to be.

ETA I'm not thinking like a chav; the tt probably flung a bicycle onto the lines to short them and blow the breaker.

Because he's not earthed.

I think the question was - how did he get in to that position without being fried?

At some point he went from being earthed to not being earthed and attached to high voltage lines and alive. It's difficult to see how from that picture.

That's my point; I understand how liveworking works, just can't fathom how he got there without making a circuit.

Ever seen linesman work on live lines? They get flown in by helicopter, at no point are they earthed, I can assure you they need a special suit to do it!!

Is that as much to do with the static charge that builds up on the helicopter as the blades spin? I've been advised that you should NEVER touch the cable from a helicopter until it has first touched the ground (sea, in the case of diver rescue) to discharge that build up.

The article says the power was off. Even if he (thought he) knew that what the hell possessed him?
