It seems as thought out and logical as the rest of catholism.

Have we got a pope face-palm photo?

I bet he's doing that right now over his cornflakes.

Disgraceful.

Are you a Catholic?
Does it affect you?

If you don't like the rules of the club - opt out (as I did).

No and no.

I just cannot begin to contemplate the mindset that can regard child molestation as equal to the ordination of women into the priesthood. The former is an abomination to most people, whereas the latter might be called 'an ecumenical matter'. At least it's debatable; no-one is likely to raise the importance of the pastoral needs of pederasts with the Holy See. I'm happy that believing in skyfairys makes people content and have no more wish to impose my beliefs on them as have theirs' imposed on me, but this is incomprehensible.

The problem is Eric that the catholic church has considerable world wide influence and if the above story is true, then I agree with the OP. It's worrying that such an idiotic group of people hold such sway around the world.

Perhaps you would like to point out where the catholic church says that? The article certainly doesn't say that. Either you failed to comprehend the article or you thought it would be fun to post up a Daily Wail style headline.

I didn't think there was an opt-out with Catholicism? Once your in, that's that, and your a member for ever.

Actually, to properly opt-out you might need to find a woman and ordane her as a priest yourself. Then they'll let you go. Problem fixed! wink

"Women's ordination groups criticized the new rules because they included the attempted ordination of women as a "grave crime" subject to the same set of procedures and punishments meted out for sex abuse."

Does that mean that the catholics will ordane a few this year? God knows enough of them are kiddie fiddlers. The Pope pretended not to notice the 50 or so paedos last year, will he turn the same blind eye to 50 female priests?

I excommunicated myself - you can buy a DIY excommunication kit. It's endorsed by the Rev Ian Paisley.

That's because you are trying to apply logic to a situation that is not logical, Captain.

Let's not forget that the age of consent in Vatican State is 14, and not-such-a-long-time-ago, was 12.

Correct, but is in the same category (ie "grave crime") and "subject to the same set of procedures and punishments". So the inference is there.

As you said the absolute arrogance of these primitives (macho medeavalists) is just ghasting my flabber as well.
How the feck can they even think of putting these two subjects in the same discussion. Child molestation is and has been a crime for centuries (which the RC church are doing everything to cover up or negate) and female priests is just a matter for discussion.
Time someone swore out an arrest warrant for Mr Ratzinger (for perverting the course of justice and deliberately covering up criminal offences) to be served on him as soon as he sets his foot in Britain!

BTW here in SW Germany (very Catholic) they're just as disgusted with Ratzinger and his minions criminal machinations regarding pederasty which is apparently rife in all their schools and institutions here in Germany!!
