"The mobile phone company O2 has apologised for sending a letter addressed to "Mr Pedo File". The firm is investigating how the item was sent to Zowie Sharples, from Bolton, after she had ordered new sim cards on a special offer"

Worryingly for "Zowie" ( rofl ) some moron thinks a paedo lives at her address. She doesn't work with children in a hospital, does she? (Not the first time the hard-of-thinking have targeted a paediatrician.)

O2 seem to be implying that 'Zowie' entered that name when applying, I don't see why they should say sorry just because their system allowed it to happen.

I think anyone could fill out the form. The implication is that 'someone' filled out the form using her address and this name. I don't think o2 need to do anything more then a minor apology. Hardly newsworthy.

To be honest I'd be more offended to be called 'Zowie' then Mr Pedo File.

Why is this news?

Phone up, ask them not to do it again, job done. How did a reporter even here about this happening.

I fking hate humanity.

I'm being cynical, but I suspect she did this herself in search of compensation

She could consider herself lucky, I ordered a free sim from O2 three weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived.

I wonder if compensation for "stress" will be on the horizon...

This is becoming a known scam for compensation: a number of motor manufacturers have reported similar problems. Punter applies online for a brochure or similar. In the online form he writes "HIV Positive" or "paedophile" or somesuch. Brochure duly arrives through his letterbox addressed to Mr AIDS. Scammer then complains to company and demands compensation. Surprisngly, some companies have and do payout.
