Whenever they say it is effective from. I would expect services to be chargeable at the new rate from 1st July.

Does make you wonder, considering the timing, just why the Govt stopped all this country's mentalists from being in South Africa when the budget was announced biggrin

Yes, but whether it'll be 20% from July or staggered at 0.5% intervals over 18 months will be the thing to watch.
Surely they won't do it that way? What a ballache.

That would crucify vendors.

If they are serious then 23% at a set date in the not exactly distant future.

Doubtful. They should have learned from the reduction in 2008. It's only reasonable to give business some time to ensure that their software is compliant. Eight days notice is not enough to do this.

I was expecting it was inevitable from the moment the cut to 15% was announced.

electric and gas from 5% to 17.5? Or VAT on books, childrens clothes etc.

I see our local garage has already bumped the price up by 1p. Trying to catch the 'last minute fillers'?

A 30% fall in prices would kickstart the market. Hopefully Georgey Boy realises this

Not in a eutopian manner though. It'll just be an opportunity for the cash rich to become a little wealthier.
