Sounds about right for what seems to be a slum, one thing on the Wiki for Newham, that may be a factor is below.

So not only are they sponging b
ds they are thieving gits by working and claiming.
I've worked in Newham and know it pretty well. The sub-cultures in Newham, and I'm sure many places, look after thier own very well. I don't critisise that, just an observation after working in a small part of it many years ago that was, back then, 69% Hindi and Urdu speaking. I met some brilliant people, and some awful, background didn't matter. What there was though was a greater sense of community amongst some groups. Centered largely around the Temples, to be fair, as far as I could see. Kind of a congregation thing. My first encounter with the caste system as well!
I'm sure some people in this country, and probably here at PH have no real conception of what multi-cultural Britain is actually about, for both good and bad. I'm inclined to think Newham is right up there on both counts.

More Somalis are on benefit than in work.

What radio station was this on?
56% seems ridiculously high and recent reports say the figure in April 2010 was 10,171 which is more like 15-20%, not 56%.

Not sure it's the unemployment capital of the UK either because it's not even the highest in London. Tower Hamlets and Lambeth have worse statistics.
And the figures last year showed Blaenau Gwent in Wales has the highest unemployment rate in the UK.

I guess those nasty ethnics have invaded Wales too.

I'm sure you haven’t a clue about it either
If you want to see a true multicultural city, go to New York.
The big difference between the two places is that in the US, if you’re a citizen, then first and foremost you’re American and that’s where your allegiance tends to lie. Yet in the forced multicult UK a lot of the newer arrivals tend to be Chinese / Pakistani / Afghani / Indian / Somalian etc etc first and don’t even consider themselves to be British, with allegiances belonging to either their sky daddy or the country that they or their parents thought was so terrible, that they emigrated from it to the UK

I just don't like that there is so many people in this country that don't even attempt to speak english.
Yes, but I think you'll find that some of those people are local/aboriginal though. Innit.
I don't know what it is people like about being so multi cultured, I think its horrid.
Off topic but when I was the dole office the other day there were 12 booklets on some shelves. All of them had people on them, only two of them had white folk on them.
Obviously it's just political correctness gone mad in the various welfare departments, obviously.
P.s. There were no ethnical people there.

A lot of us don't want it and never asked for it.After the 2nd world war, who came in to fill in the labour shortage in the manufacturing and rail industries? Why was there a shortage if there was plenty of take up with local folk?
