I call shenanigans.

I'd say he should open his eyes, clean his ears out and blow his nose.

Totally agree, his spatial awareness borders on nil points, shouldn't be driving something so big, shouldn't be driving at all wink

I've never driven anything that large but I have run over a dog and I have pushed a car forwards in the direction it's designed to fo in. And I have great difficulty believing that you can hit a car then shove it along the road sideways for nearly a minute without noticing?!

If so, then how on earth can they be safe to drive on the road?

Completley agree with this. Having been with my dad all over europe with my dad, who drives lorries, when i was a teen, its amazing what some car drivers will do when it comes to arguing with trucks. The majority of car drivers are totally clueless with regards to what you can see, how long it takes you to stop when it comes to trucks.

I was surprised when the article first came to light that the trucker could not have noticed at least some part of the interaction between the car and his vehicle (I've spent a bit of time in HGVs, though not driving).

Having said that, if the CPS and Commissioner are happy with the situation, having seen all the evidence at hand, I should be convinced there was little else the HGV driver could do.

Indeed. I've known a car to swerve in front of a 30 odd tonne mixer lorry to try and make a left turn. For some reason she was then surprised when the lorry drove over the back of her car and squashed it a bit - and no, I wasn't driving... Quite how she thought he would see her drive directly under his cab is still a mystery to me.

Could have been a lot worse. A bit surprised that he didn't notice anything at the start of the incident, but no-one was hurt and outcome seems OK.
