In my experince the service they offer couldn't get much worse, so doubt it would have too much effect. There staff are incapable or unable to do anything to help you even if they want to. If the rest of the company is as bad as their customer facing operations then this is probably the least of BT's worries.

In fairness to the boss, I have emailed him on a Sunday lunchtime about a complaint. I got an email back from him within 30mins, saying he would have his VIP team contact me and sort my issues that day. They did.

I thought that was outstanding.

Couldn't agree more. I have several clients waiting for data lines to be installed to new build offices. The lease negotiations have been going on a considerable time (and i mean 6 months +), yet despite the lines being ordered at the start of the process, BT still have not installed them and will not provide a date as to when they will be installed. Two other businesses i know with over 100 staff have had to take their new offices and work on dongles as BT still haven't put lines in.

Problem is, there's nowhere else to go and they know it.

Having worked in BT offices on and off for the best part of the last decade, I can confidently say that we will not notice if the whole company downs tools. Indeed, the internet should be much faster for the rest of us if they're outside picketing rather than sat at their desks swapping Youtube clips.

Would it be noticeable if they did strike? Our local engineer is dynamite but the call center people really are a lazy bunch who feel like it's a hardship to talk Englishto customers. It's one of the few companies where I'd rather talk to a machine.
Editted for accuracy.....

BT Call centres are a waste of time. They actually want you to do the job of the engineer.

We spent over 2 hours on the phone to them recently when our broad band was playing up - When they eventually sent an engineer in, he found that there was a problem with some hardware change over at the exchange, he disappeared for about 15 minutes, and when he got back, problem solved

I do like this bit:

article said said:
Following a pay freeze last year, BT is offering an increase of 2% in pensionable pay, with a guaranteed bonus.

The CWU is seeking a 5% rise.
So they are demanding a 5% pay rise... where do I sign up for things like this?

I know people who got 5% as a bonus but not as a payrise... Oh and I bet they then demand a guaranteed bonus too.

Unions are going after everything... RMT next?

Does make you wonder if it's a co-ordinated "well show these Tories (and Libs)" attack!

It's precisely that: the unions trying out their muscle. They are fools, as they will give the government the excuse to legislate against them and public sympathy will be limited to non-existent in current economic circumstances.

fk them.

Presume its cause the government is no longer using them to launder money back to the labour party now?

I can only speak for myself and the rest of the team I work with but there's not a single one of us is going on strike, we're of the opinion that we're lucky to get any payrise this year and in the current climate there would be little or no sympathy from the public if we went on strike.

it cant do anything but help you!
