to me voting lib dem means one thing. I am pro europe. ie allowing brussels a bigger say in the running of britain. considering the euro as our currency. can/do lib dem voters really believe this is the best way for the country to be run had the lib dems won a majority?

I understand that Cleggo has shelved the Euro policy for now; given the current crisis that isn't going to be changing any time soon.

I don't see any tangible difference between the three main parties on Europe. It doesn't matter what they say or how much the Tories huff and puff, unless they actually ditch the treaties then power is heading towards Brussels.

I am hoping that soon enough the countries in the Eurozone (well, the "rich" ones) get mightily f***ed off that they have to pay a lot more in tax to support the poorer countries, and the whole thing gets binned.

The Germans are already not happy about this.

I'm thinking the Germans could be ready to vote their current lot out, alright.

...and then bang goes the Euro...

Time to dig out all those stashed Deutsche Marks? I can see it all going tits up in less than 5 years.

Foggy did his level best to hide the strongly pro-euro policies of his party during the election and even when drawn on the leaders debates he obfuscated.

I suspect many lib-dem voters did so without realising a lib-dem govt would've handed as much power as possible straight to the EU and the adoption of the euro and a central bank in Frankfurt on day two.

Now you're just trying to cheer me up! biggrin

I wonder if it does go bang, how many countries will try to resurrect their dead currencies and how many will adopt an existing currency - US Dollars, Pounds, Rubles?

This is because you are an idiot, HTH

There exist a varied amount of reasons for voting for most all parties.

As i understand it the OP didn't vote lib dem. Though granted he hasn't expressed it very clearly, he may well be an idiot, but not for the reasons you suppose.

It was in reference to the OP thinking the only reason to vote lib dem was because of a pro europe stance.

What I don't understand is the Lib-Dem supporters who are now complaining about the coalition compromises. Given that a key aspect of Lib-Dem policy is some form of Proportional Representation, do these voters not realise that if that was introduced there would always be coalitions and so compromises?

Why complain about precisely that now? This coalition is in effect testing out the Proportional Representation effects.

I'm surprised they didn't have the foresight to predict that the union could go that way! There is no use having a union that falls apart when times are hard, a union should stick together through thick or thin otherwise all the expense of setting it up will be for nothing.

No other reason to vot for them, voting Liberal is pointless, rather like the Liberals.

They will keep the Conservatives in check, brilliant result in my book as a Conservative/Lib Dem supporter.
