US officers to command British troops in Afghanistan

Apparently we are to take it in turns to command. Can anyone see the US Marines agreeing to be commanded by Brits? No, thought not.

Why not? it's been happening for some time.

The change is at one level so:

1 star - Comd Task Force Helmand = British

2 star - Comd RC(South) = British or Canadian or Dutch (in rotation)

3 star - Comd ISAF Joint Command = American

4 star - Comd ISAF = American

(Kandahar Airbase has different C2 below ISAF Joint Command)

changes to

1 star - Comd Task Force Helmand = British

2 star - Comd of new RC(SW) = American (initially) or British (rotational)

3 star - Comd ISAF Joint Command = American

4 star - Comd ISAF = American
