Harperson.

She's kept a very low profile during all of this and doesn't seem to be entrenched in the Brown/Milipede/Ballsack cabal.

If it goes to a Labour party vote apparently Balls has the backing of the unions, all good for damaging the layabout paty further though smile

Another vote for Harman. I reckon they will try for the "Maggie effect" and it will fail miserably.

Darling will not stand.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the Labour party membership or the Conversative Parliamentary party (IDS anyone?). Balls has a genuine chance as does Harperson-we can but hope. But in reality one of the bothers grim is the most likley. It would be great if they both stood, now that would be worth watching.

As an outside bet Mandy. Just as a caretaker you undertand, only because he was made by the party you understand-in the best interests of the country you know.

Please be Balls, please be Balls.

From the party that have rammed Class and Race down people throats should they dare not toe the communist party line nice to see a racially diverse and State school educated bunch of candidates there.

Millibrands are out, too Cain and Able.

Badger has been working hard for it but hasn't the backing [Mandleson has never taken to him and has nothing on him]

The Harpy is a walking political gaffe.

Balls has an unfortunate name.

The need a dead mouse candidate... they have quite a few of them scurrying about.

There won't be "a next leader" as The Squatter is never going to concede. The Labour Party will take a contract hit on him at the rate we are going.

For some reason, I don't think he'll stand down as PM either as I think he has the one technicality where he can continue to be PM for another few months with a minority Govt. Someone said (dunno who) that the earliest we can have another General Election is September, so I'm betting that regardless of what Cameron and Clegg agree, we're keep The Squatter until September.

Jack Straw will take the role until a new real leader is found.

'Perfect storm'

Lib-lab pact requires new leader, JS hits the front, the pact fails at its first hurdle, PR after public refuses to accept the PR type they want, confusion reigns for a while, election called on FPTP, cons win.

Its between the Millibrand, Straw and Cooper.

Outside runner is James Purnell.

The Millibrand will work a deal out between themselves, David as PM/Ed as Chancellor and they will run on that ticket.

Outside bet on Hillary Benn?
I can't see any of the current "faces" doing the job.

Hopefully Harriet Harlot though. She would fk things up beyond all recognition.

Bad short term, good long term.

Purnell is like Clegg for me, he is another one with Big Ideas, the biggest of which is for to become the boss.

Oh and I wouldnt trust Ed Milliband as far as I could throw you. David I actually have some time for, he is competent. Dont trust him, but he is at least competent. His brother hasnt said anything useful since I first met him.

If you think carefully about how it would effect labour wink

Ed Balls...

How will the lib dems cope being in power withe tories and having to confront strikes, how many unite sponsored MP's are their now... I am guessing that these union(unite) funded MP's did proportionatley better than the rest of the labour mp's (ie unite - poured money into those seat)
