Just catching up with the days events. Seems there is talk of people who were unable to vote receiving compensation - WTF?

I don't believe for one moment that in all cases it was the fault of the voters, but I don't understand the rationale of com-pen-say-shun?

Incidentally is the "Doors close at 10pm" enshrined in law or can it be overridden so long as the counts start/end by a certain time?

if you dont get there on time, tough! If howeer they run out of ballot cards that's disgraceful, but what compo will you claim? Busfare, petrol??

Did anyone else hear the Sheffield guy saying lots of Students arrived without voting cards and it took ages to find them on the lists as "most of them weren't sure exactly where they lived"!

Labour must be proud of their EdYoukayshun.

The only compensation they should get is a slap round the head and being told to be more organised. There's no excuse. I highly, highly doubt that all the gimps who didn't get in to vote were unable to do so due to being very, very busy during the other 14 hours of the day. Just get a fking grip, if it means that much to you and you're such a busy person then you can do a postal vote, a proxy vote, or get there sooner. I suspect the people who were genuinely unable to get to apolling sttaion before 9pm to be in the tniy minority of those caught up in this fiasco.

I've voted in Hallam all my life.

The polling stations have always been quiet by 9pm and there was no reason to suggest this would change.

Consequently, it is not on to criticise those who fell foul of the queues this time.

Some people were queuing for up to 2 hours and the doors were closed at 10pm while there were still people queuing.

Compensation is a bit stupid though.
