I've just had someone from the Conservatives come to the front door asking if I had decided who I was going to vote for etc.. I thought you weren't allowed to say who your voting for?

Or am I very wrong?

Of course you are allowed, you just don't have to.

Not allowed by whom?

Of course, you can tell ANYONE who you intend to vote for - or you can chose not to.

of course you are its not a official secret or anything? they are quite within their rights to ask if you are planning on voting for them.

He probably meant in polite circles to avoid arguments.

I received a mailshot from Labour this week (my 4th different mailshot from them in just over a week!!) that enclosed a prepaid postcard asking me to indicate who I was going to vote for. Unsurprisingly it didn't take long to be slam dunked into my bin.

Ah right okay!

I just told them I was voting for Conservatives, as I am, but not bothered about local politics, just want to get rid of Gordo.

I openly told Lib Dem guy at my door earlier that I was not voting for him, but voting for UKIP or Tories ... to which his reply was "but they stand no chance" ... apparently he'd rather I vote for something I don't believe in (ie his parties policies)

I noticed the neighbour to my left had put up a lib dem poster in their window the other day, and came outside ranting about it to the mrs, as the neighbour to my right came outside...

Apparently i'm surrounded by them! hehe

I have been quite surprised by a few people, a few BNP, a few greens, a few liberals and a few Labour.

How the hell did I get to know greenies?!

I think maybe the most sensible answer was the Monster Raving loony Party.

I have another question..

Around my town, Guildford, we've got quite alot of Conservative signs up.. But in the council estates theres lots of Lib Dems signs.. What are the Lib Dems doing for the benefit kind that would make this lot vote them?

Have you paid attention to the debates. They plan to brring in a general tax free allowance of £10,000 (as opposed to the current £6,475). So that muight be a factor.

However, the main reason posters would be showing is that the Lib Dems are the second party in this part of the world and have been for years. If someone doesn't want to vote Conservative, the Lib Dems would be the natural alternative choice - if you want your vote to have any hope of making a difference.

We have a voting system that really only allows one of two parties to have a hope of winning any given seat. In some parts of the UK the two parties will be Conservative/Labour. In other parts Conservative/Lib Dem.
In Scotland and Wales the two party mix will be different again.

They probably just think that the Libs Dems will be closer to Labour policies than Tories so the "best of the rest" type of thing with the standard "I have no intention of doing well in my life so I want to see the Govt tax those rich b****ds who worked hard for their money".
