How do you get young people to vote?
Discussion
As above really, I work with people that are mostly young (21-28) lets say, and out of the 10 on my team two have said they will be voting the others have just said they can't be bothered, they think they're all crooks, they don't know anything about it.
So how do you get people to care from this age group, I know many do care, and will vote but out of a group of people here, which aren't complete scumbags, probably all on above £30k - educated - etc so I feel its quite a problem?!

I'm in that demographic and I'm undecided if I can be bothered to vote.
First thing first. A decent implementation of online voting.
Example would be:
Apply online. Receive code in post. Enter code online. Voting account activated.
I THOUGHT this was how it was set up when I went onto that voting website they've set up, but all it really does with the information you give it is make a PDF for you to print and send in the post.
I'm 21. I don't own a printer let alone envelopes and stamps.
I was apathetic before I even started, the above has now sealed the deal. f
k voting. What's the point anyway? It will either be the Tories or Labour. They're both crap options.

I am 25, and have never voted before. This time is different, with many key points that stir something inside such as the war and recession.

I'm in that age group and I used to vote, now don't see any point as this country is f
ked no matter who gets in so I don't care, therefore don't feel compelled to waste my time voting.
TBH I think if everyone took this stance it would actually make the government s
t themselves. Imagine if no-one voted? it would show them that no-one likes them, it's the only way.

I disagree. Gordon Bright-Spark Brown would probably take it to mean that everyone was content with Labour running things the way they are, smile and carry on.I think that the above comment about getting people talking about it is a good way of getting people voting. The way I see it is that if you don't vote, don't complain about the way things are run!
As long as the only sort of 'libertarianism' available in politics is of the 'f**k them all, we're alright' sort and apart from that, every single party is obsessed with controlling and micromanaging our lives to ever greater extents I'll not be effectively legitimising any of them with my vote.
I'm 21 and I'm voting. Mainly to stop the BNP getting anywhere. I figure If i vote for one the the other people then one BNP vote will be rendered void... if that makes any sence.
As for who to vote for, I'm unsure. I will have a gander and the propagander and make my desision.
as for how to get more young people voting... no idea. sorry

Can of worms. The main issue is most have nothing to care about, politicians know this so go for the biggest sector of voters.
Many of the issues that younger people do want discussed are a political hot potato, so get ignored.
The issue is down to lack of education and knowledge by that age range (me included)..
At school we learned nothing about political process, which party suposedly stands for what etc.... I voted for the first time in the locals last year.... I had no idea what I was doing, there is no instruction on how to actually vote etc... I bet that puts many people off for a start!
A more politically aware society would be wonderful, proper education (and I dont mean PHSE) would help... but thats not in Labours interest is it!!!
