Coming from the other thread about the Contingencies Act, and the Terror Level being raised, and all being linked to Stalin Brown not wanting to concede any power, do you think we'll see the General Election being called off?

Also, can anyone recommend the best bookies for me to go and put a tenner down on it?

This.

Even this bunch of evil loons would not attempt it.

And another from me. Those who do are too busy fashioning a tin foil hat to reply, the idiots.

Much as Brown would love to do this, even he realises that he would not get away with it.

What do you mean? The law says that it has to be within 5 years of the last one.

Anyway, the election is going to be on 6th May. One of Brown's goons let it slip in an interview yesterday.

No. The election will not be postponed/called off.

I'd find that picture of the man and his cat wearing tinfoil hats, but I'm feeling lazy.

The Monarch can dissolve parliament, theoretically.

I think this very plausible and acceptable in the very unlikely scenario of Brown refusing to call the election by the max time period allowed.

The rise in terror level is purely to make everyone feel vulnerable. A vulnerable electorate tends to vote for the incumbents. An actual terrorist attack would suit the government too.

Nope, everyone would vote for UKIP or BNP.

Besides, there has been no historical precedent in this country, except in wartime

And I don't reckon they could quite pull that one off...

Whilst I doubt that winky would even try, I'll lay a whole tub of jaffa cakes, on there being some disturbance, between now and the election, that will in some way bolster support for winky / cause serious issues for the opposition...................if they went to the trouble of killing Dr David Kelly, what makes people think they won’t play with democracy on a countrywide scale

Tin foil hatist, hell yes, with this lot it’s the only way to be

It's only been raised from "slightly miffed" to "bloody nuisance", I think it would have to be raised to "oh fk me" to make much difference. Also don't forget in 1940 we were at a level of "Oh deep st" and we still had an election then.

I have been joking about this for 2 years now, though if it did happen it wouldn't be funny.

I don't think that it will - however I believe that it will be a call for the 26th of March so that teh Budget can be called off and left for "Some Other F*cker".

However, if I am proved wrong - I won't be horrendously surprised.
