He is shooting himself in the foot here, surely.

Mr Blair is to be paid to speak on geopolitics and would appear at four events over the year.
Like him or not, being an ex-PM for 10+ years, mixing in the centre of key political circles throughout that time surely makes him an expert on such matters and worth the money.

How many others can claim such authority?

He is a politican, and a very able one. Principles, rhymes, reasons, logic, facts, morals are irrelevant.

Would I trust him? As far as I can throw an elephant.

mspence must either be very young or her memory isn't very good. One person ruined this country and her name is Thatcher. And she got a yank to do it by closing the coal mines selling off most of our steel industry. Just look at what is left of our manufactoring industry in this country anything that is still producing is owned by foreigners

He's a very able politician only in the warped modernist interpretation, in the manner of Obama. Both present as very able snake oil salesmen which is hardly an accolade.

That suggests Blair may still get a Nobel prize Oh no.... or will he get a Knighthood.

I would much rather buy him a ticket to The Hague.

Indeed.

But many of the Labour MPs are money grabbing scum, it's pretty much human nature to want to be comfortable etc. so I fail to see how people who are rich can rationally be Labour MPs etc.. (I don't see them giving away all their cash, put it that way).
