Daily Telegraph said:
The National Association of Muslim Police (NAMP) claimed that ministers were wrong to blame Islam for being the “driver” behind recent terrorist attacks...

The comments, made in a seven-page memorandum to a parliamentary committee investigating extremism, are embarrassing for Gordon Brown. They indicated that Muslim officers may be reluctant to take part in “hearts and minds” anti-terrorism campaigns...

The Muslim officers believe the Government is wrong to blame Islam as the main driver of terrorist activity.

Research by “those convicted of terrorism acts shows Islam was not, and is not, a real driver but all our strategy seem to focus on is this un-evidenced view of Islam being the driver,” they said. The Government said that confronting Islamic terrorism was one of the key priorities of the anti-radicalisation strategy. Last night, the Foreign Office admitted that funding for counter-terrorism policies in pakistan had been cut.
Well that is a releif. I bow to their superior detective skills.

To be fair, while the IRA were predominantly Catholic, it was a social and nationalistic agenda that drove their activities rather than a religious one.

Have I missed the far right blowing planes, trains and buses up?

Am I too stupid to understand the point they are making, because it sure looks to me like Islam it to blame!

If the police officers are unwilling to undertake their duties then remove them from the force.

It is a sad fact that whilst a very small minority of muslims are terrorists the majority of terrorists are muslims....

That article said:
But the NAMP claimed the policies had led to “hatred against Muslims” which “has grown to a level that defies all logic and is an affront to British values”.
This thread (and others here) rather proves (some of) their point, no?

The rest of the quotes you've chosen suggest the NAMP are making a semantic argument, in that terror attacks are unislamic. It would be interesting to see the context of the quotes made because as they stand they seem a bit daft.

I've just read the article, and I seem to be in the minority by thinking a lot of what they are saying seems to make sense.

The main jist appears to be that they are saying to the government that the current approach to dealing with terrorism is not the best. While it is resulting in some success it is causing all muslims to be painted as terrorists, and as a result they are subject to abuse when walking down the street. This in turn generates hatred which feeds into the cycle.

I get the impression that what they are trying to say is that while many terrorists are muslim, you cannot then make the leap and say that Islam is to blame for all terrorism. By making that leap you are effectively saying that all followers of Islam are terrorists when clearly this isn't the place.

The Telegraph have clearly jumped on the most sensationalist headline they can grab from the seven page document, but the bulk of the article seems pretty reasonable.

They might not have any free time, they're currently in discussion with the National Association of Midget Police Officers over potential issues with the National Association of Ninja Police Officers tongue out

You don't believe the London bombings were at politically motivated then?

... And of the minority of politicians who organised an illegal invasion of Iraq were a majority of Christians.

That is implicit in my statement, is it not? The question is whether they were also religiously motivated. It's quite difficult to decide unequivocally since Islam struggles to comprehend any division between church and, for want of a better term, state.

We have that type thing here. On one hand we hear about treating everyone equal, then on the other we get the same people drawing up divisions purposely setting themselves apart. rolleyes
