Bye Bye Abbey.

As of today, the old Abbey name will begin to be withdrawn by the owners of the brand, Bank Santander.
No more brollies in their ads. Perhaps they could introduce us to a new logo fe4aturing a Sombrero.

Indian call centres? I've been with them for years and they've all been English Roses (probably Sultry Senoritas from today).

My old man works for Santander, and thinks they agre doing a great job of turning things around and implementing better systems. More focuson risk control and less on sales apparently!

Did a contract last year within the Abbey/Santander Group.

The "in" joke going round for years has been: "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition".

They have a head honcho who must share something in common with The Queen - he must believe every branch of Santander/Abbey/Alliance/Bradford has a smell of new paint as part of the brand image. They don't half fix problems promptly when a CEO wants to visit, but mere customers.... well.....

Getting very annoyed with the old Shabby at the moment, there was a sign in a branch saying that from 'whatever' date, all cash withdrawals under something like £30 could no longer be done, my son vas a bit upset and asked then while I was paying a cheque in, as every now and then he likes to take £10 out of his account. Apparently, it's only for grown up accounts, and it's supposed to be in the interest of customer satisfaction, meanwhile, if I want to draw £20 out and the cash point isn't working, then I can go to the post office and darw it out there??

Don't forget having to place a cash order if you want anything more than £500, fair enough if someone comes in and asks for £20k but when you want to withdraw £1000, getting told you have to place a cash order is a bit much, never get those problems with HSBC,Nat West etc.

One of the worst organisations I've ever had the displeasure of being a customer of. The branch staff could barely speak english. God knows what the call centre staff are like. It's not like they're unique in the retail banking sector. They are all absolutely terrible in my experience. Run for the benefit of the staff rather than the customers, like most large organisations these days.

I've never had the displeasure of banking with Halifax. But they were noticeably worse than HSBC, whose services i always find unpleasent to use, mainly due to the run down nature of their branches, and the constant changing of the terms and agreements that i have with them. They're call centre staff are usually quite good though, be they scottish or from the subcontinent. Nationwide and Principality, the building societies I've dealt with have usually been quite good, when they weren't trying to sell me things.

Seems like a trait of all the ex Building Societies really, it's a really stupid policy in my opinion.
