Ex-Labour General Secretary puts the knife into Brown

The Mail on Sunday have printed some extracts of a book by Peter Watt, former General Secretary of the Labour party. It makes for interesting reading, but confirms what most people know anyway - Brown is a bullying lunatic.

I wonder how many mobile phones met their end against the walls of Number 10 this morning.

Just seen Liam byrne try to answer the questions about it on BBC, after addressing the hoon nutters, and I have to say despite the easy ride given by the BBC interviewer even he struggled to spin away the stories as lies, he didn't want to comment on gossip, and that he had a book to sell, it was a long time ago, but he did not state any of it was untrue. Which to me with this labour media machine says it's all in fact true... And the parts about donations and his "resignation" are a terrible indictment of the scapegoating practiced by the goverment.

k me, it really is The Thick Of It.
Hardly a shock, is it? Half the cabinet seem to deserve a good stabbing; meeting us in person would be quite a security risk.
k me, it really is The Thick Of It.I think the last time a cabinet minister dealt with an un-vetted member of the public was the TV 'interview' of Thatcher by an M.O.P. asking about the Belgrano and the Exclusion Zone.

Regardless of anything about his personality (or lack thereof) or his political views, I simply dislike the man for his breathing through his mouth thing. I just want to punch him.
Obviously, add in what he is actually like and what he has actually done (and I will never forget his raping of my private pension at a time when it needed it the least) and I would happily see him through the scope of a high powered rifle and blow his f***ng head clean off.
And I should add, in the interests of equality, that I'd happily punch Mr Blair as well for his fake smile. I am not sure CMD is any better in this regard either.

Looks as if Hoon is still trying to stick the knife in too.

I would punch Gordon given the opportunity, I don't really mind serving a year for it... if he didn't have kids I'd probably do it hard... I just wish more people felt the same way, it would concentrate the scum's minds if they were physically attacked fortnightly.

Seen that bit in that piece about when brown bottled the election that never was - ministerial cars were hired and not used...
'As he spoke, the fleet of limousines was aimlessly circling Parliament Square. They had come to Victoria Street, as arranged, to be picked up by staff who would collect Ministers and whisk them off on the campaign trail.
They were sent away on a pretext, to spare us the humiliation of anyone spotting them lined up outside our offices when Gordon finally called the game off.'
Hmmm so its ok for government to waste fuel, but we have to drive 5 miles less.

I really do despair at this Country as a whole, how have we, as a people let this incredible bunch of cretins stay in power?
The list of the failings is almost endless - what the feck has happened to this once proud Nation?
I think it was called voter apathy. 26% of the vote. The list of the failings is almost endless - what the feck has happened to this once proud Nation?
Hahahahaha....

A party apparatchik spills the beans having spent 12-odd years working for these ghastly people - shame it's been 12 years of the likes of him and his leftist ilk utterly ruining this country.
Unfortunately the electorate voted three times for this shambolic crowd, their con-tricks, their lies, their ineptitude, their profligate waste, their false promises and their propaganda. Maybe they really the 21st century government that this country deserves.

As suggested here it's likely to be the first of several such books or articles, so more to enjoy in future - but yes, sadly for the wrong reasons as far as the country is concerned.
Sure it's a news story. This is an election year and the person focused on is involved in that apparently.
That's why there's currently an in-depth book serialisation feature covering the contents on BBC 1, with repeats on BBC 2. However a lot of people missed it. Possibly as it didn't occur, which is why other media outlets need to redress the balance.

There are four reasons I don't thing this is a story worthy of mainstream reporting:That's why there's currently an in-depth book serialisation feature covering the contents on BBC 1, with repeats on BBC 2. 1. The guy was happy to take home £100,000 from New abour every year and had no compunctoin in supporting the party when times were good for him
2. He only decided he didn't like them when he didn't do his job properly and was asked to resign
3. Now he wants to make some money he's launched a book at the most profitable and supposedly newsworthy moment- for his own benefit
4. He turned to The Daily Mail, surely the antithesis of his employer's political standpoint, to sell his book. It lacks credibility and, if his goals were honerable, he would have tried to pursuade at least a relatively neutral press outlet to put forth his 'valuable' message.
...and someone needs to rake some cash in on the back of some book sales.
Honestly, I hate New Labour as much as the next man, but I'm not so desperate to read bad news about them as to forget the basics of people self promoting for personal profit.
Labour should be judged on their record, not the biased rantings of a man telling Tories what they want to hear because he was sacked for being incompetant.

Fine, enterprising behaviour, good stuff.10 Pence Short said:

If the contents are accurate, as they appear to be and almost certainly are, there's a very good 'public interest' element to the book as it accurately portrays not just the inadequate nature of somebody as Prime Minister but the inadequate nature of the 'government' they lead - described as a shables - which seeks re-election this year.10 Pence short said:

There is no real substance to the incompetence charge relating to his sacking, this chap was a fall-guy for the fundraising irregularities which from any real-world perspective must have been known about and condoned far higher up the food chain. He may have been incompetent for other reasons but I doubt you were referring to that. And it's not su much 'what the Tories want to hear' as 'what the public deserves to know'.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
