Interesting job description - wonder what confidentiality/behavioural stipulations will be made of the operatives?

You do have a choice whether to be scanned or not. No one is forcing you to travel by air but I guess most passengers would go through the process if it meant safer travel. Just make sure it isn't a cold day!

Ho far will you let them taking away your rights so you feel safe? Access to your bank details, strip search?

See that's the thing that gets me. Lets spend millions on super duper security and scanners, then give terrorists the option to decline going through it.

Great

So what happens when they find a way around them? Apart from getting caught out through complacency?

The cynic in me thinks it's a deterrent for anyone and everyone to use air travel, not just Teh Terrorists but everyday people. I'm due to fly out to Schipol at the end of the month and put some thought into the Eurostar as an option to flying. It's marginally quicker to fly, when queues, security and general waiting around are taken into account

Isn't the idea of this body scanner so that you don't have to be strip searched
So your content to be virtually stripped? Now are you happy for them to keep that image?

Just seems to be another nipple out of our freedoms, in order to keep us 'safe'.

I'm still not happy with the mere waving of these systems through on safety grounds. The following report is food for thought. I'm not claiming that a millimetre wave system is unsafe, merely that the safety is not known or tested. Furthermore, it is not clear that the systems we actually get will be millimetre wave based.

How would one know? You certainly wouldn't be allowed to approach one as a civilian with an x-ray detector, especially since such a detector looks like a bomb with a remote trigger button.

Anyhow, it appears that Dick Cheney is actually a woman!

not keen on the idea as it seems an easy solution, but ultimately the people operating these things are going to see 1,000 of (near) naked images per day, I would guess it would take something exceptional for them to even notice.

I think the 'choice' of being scanned was that you can choose not to fly, therefor choose not to be scanned - you can't simply say you'd rather not be scanned and carry on your way!

Like I said before on this subject if it speeds up my journey and it legitimately reduces terrorism then I have no problems.

The scans will be compulsory, i hope. The point i was trying to make is that if you're not happy to be scanned then don't travel by air.

Don't see why all passengers should have to go through these when a bit of demographic profiling could narrow the field down substantially. Why not focus on mid 20's - late 30's males with muslim sounding names and no life insuarance (doesn't pay out for suicide, so no point having it)?

rofl Compulsory strip search to fly? That should kill the industry! Maybe that is the point.

This measure is so intrusive I can't see how anyone supports it.

This is a possibility I considered actually. I didn't say anything because I thought it was paranoia.
The funny thing about paranoia is that if everyone has it, then there's something wrong with the few who don't.
