Interesting article in the Times, including quotes from the political parties and government.

Looks like from now on if you make a donation to a hospital / charity appeal fund, for example to a children hospice like Clare house (my local kids hospice) the donation will appear on the hospitals balance sheet, and therefore affect grants and payments in general from the gubberment.

I’d really be interested if one of PH’s accountants could offer an opinion

If this goes through it will be one of the few things to genuinely shock me about the way this Govt. plots and ploys and spins. Utterly disgraceful - and looking at the figures quoted - quite dangerous in its implication.

Also, how absolutely arrogant of them to take over and begin to have account of our money, given in good faith for particular personal or local reasons, without even consulting us (oh, as if!)

I bet they were 'banking' (possibly more than figuratively) on this getting little coverage.

How long before some minister or official figures the amounts into 'spending' to claim that amounts have gone up, or not decreased when cuts have been levied?

Simple way round, charity buys equipment and LOANS it to the hospital on indefinite loan (subject to a no notice call back) then if Gubberment fks the hospital over remove said equipment until they redress the balance (job done I reckon) smile
Ah! I see you have the machine that goes 'ping!'

The Labour Party has, for years, looked at charities and their funds and had ambitions to direct where the money is spent.
