Well done to Mr Ball for having the guts to stand up in public and voice his ideas and logic to this debate.
I do find it deeply worrying though that a man is booed and slow hand clapped just for relaying his thoughts, these people really have been brainwashed and beating into submission but why? is it that they need a "cause" to believe in to fill a vacuum in their life, does it make them feel superior, have none of them read 1984.
I kind of understand Dara O Briain's response any hint of agreement would be the death of any future BBC employment, have the hippies and liberal softies won?

look at the comments section:
No they haven't won..
Remeber MOSt of those in the comments section, haven't even heard yet of the climategate scanda.....
When it finally breaks out in the Main Stream Media.
It will be interesting.
Optimistically, I'm hoping that the MSM have been holding back on this, until AFTER copenhagen is a disaster. lest they be accused of damamging it, and KIlling the planet...
Hopefully after Copenhahge fails, and everything gets put back 6 months to mexico (bit warmer there, in the summer). People will say, I thought we had only six months to save the planet. wtf?

This is the same Johnny Ball who was also booed by a protest meeting locally to me when he stood up and defended the council's plans to build an incinerator burning 220,000 tonnes per annum of municipal waste - some imported from a hundred miles away - on Green Belt land a mile from a town centre and half a dozen schools. Scientific studies across the world show that furans and PCBs are emitted in micro-fine particulates from even modern waste incinerators but Johnny Ball says it's okay.

How dare any one boo Johnny Ball, the man is a bit mad but is great! I bet he speaks with far more intelligence than those that booed at him even if his views aren't agreed by all!
Same as David Bellamy, the mas is a trained botanist (bonkers as well) and was often seen in the media until he dare speak against the religion of Co2 Dr Phibes said:

I imagine the audience would therefore be of scientific mind and would not take kindly to irrational ideas from a retired children's TV presenter.
Dara O Briain on the other hand was a physicist in a former life.
The curious thing is why Ince invited Ball to perform.

The curious thing is why Ball was daft enough to agree to appear in front of an audience of true believers.I imagine the audience would therefore be of scientific mind and would not take kindly to irrational ideas from a retired children's TV presenter.

When people are threatened with loss of job, booed by an audience when their arguments are too uncomfortable, and when their opposition resort to emotion rather than facts, twist facts, lie and so on, you know they have a real and geniune case to make. The argument in favour of MMGW is clearly dishonest, the argument against these tricksters, the naive and the stupid is all based on fact. It'll win in the end.
"Dear B Oeuf,
Thanks for your support. It is much appreciated and there have been a flood of a similar nature.
I am convinced that I am right on this issue and have held that view for 20 years, and longer than the IPCC has existed. If you set up an IPCC are they ever in all honesty, going to come back and say, "There is no Climate Change, will you make us redundant please?"
To be honest, I brought it upon myself on Tuesday.
My opening gambit with Dalton's Atomic Theory and Water and CO2 and Hydrocarbons and Oxygen and animals and plants, is irrefutable and I took them with me on that.
But I did over do it, and kept on way past my allotted time, which was unfair to both audience and the rest of the cast, and perhaps that was just cause for the hiss-boo antics. It was when I said that the Univ of East Anglia had been caught cooking the books for the sake of their funding grants, that the audience (on UCL property) reacted and started the slow handclap. Hecklers I can handle, slow hand clap is moronic and relentless. I had pointed out that we are 50% identical in DNA with a banana. I said, If I have offended anyone tonight, I want to apologise - to the bananas and left.
I started on this whole tack because of my connections with education. I cannot stand by and see a generation brainwashed into a state of gloom and despair over erroneous future predictions that the world will be unable to sustain human life by 2050. It drives people away from science and we will surely need scientists and technologists to solve any problems we will have in the future. The expenditure on CO2 reduction is futile and results in reducing the amount we spend on the Third World where it would do much more good for humanity and the planet.
I believe the future will be brighter than we can yet imagine, and that is where I would have ended up last night, but for the situation.
Twitter was a'twitter today with JB Lampooning, but it is the nature of the beast.
Tonight, I opened, It's hot in here isn't it? It's cold outside - Climate change - and went straight into a routine that did not visit the same area. But I will make time to address the issue again and keep plugging on my beliefs. My motivations, I believe are much fairer and more rational than most of those that oppose me.
With many thanks for your support and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year,
Cheers,
Johnny Ball"
