Cabin crew will walk out on Tuesday, December 22 for 12 days. Unbelievable - 90+% voted in favour of this.

What world are these people living in. BA cabin crew are already the best paid in the industry.

If they are not happy with their job then leave for another airline or career,

It has all happened before and it will all happen again.

Now is the winter of our discontent.

Great, they'll return to work just in time for the BA New Years Sale!

Ah unions, such fantastic thinking behind every move - business on brink of collapse, go on strike and lose the last remaining customers prepared to pay over the odds for a mediocre service.

Bet Branson’s got a bigger than average smile on his face thanks to this

BA.

A full service, high cost airline trying to operate in the days of low-cost airlines with a fixed-cost base a tenth their size.

There's a solid chance BA will go under.

82 flights in the past 2 years for me - only 4 on BA. It is truly possible to fly from Heathrow without using them.

I know a couple of people at BA, one is a pilot and the other senior flight attendant (female smile ).

It *used* to be a fabulous job, now they all absolutely hate the way they get messed about all the time, and, with reductions in allowances etc, their real pay hasn't changed in years. They'd probably rather be on strike than go to work.

I guess BA just has to take a deep breath and turn itself into RyanAir. Smashing.

If you are a union member you maybe better off slowly killing off your employer rather than accepting worse terms and conditions.

If 90% voted for a strike, management aren't doing a good job.

no great surprised, I've just paid for 2 return flights to Sydney with Emirates apexing in Dubai

half the cost of BA for exactly the same service

OH............................Turkeys DO vote for Christmas.......I always thought that was a Myth!
BA employees surely can't be this stupid?

The company need to get rid of staff, so they strike. Resulting in more people losing jobs and more pay cuts.

Genius.

I wonder if they'd feel the same way if the job title was "supervisor" rather than "director"?

I worked out of an office in Reading in the late 80's and one of the guys there was married to an air hostess who had moved to BA when the bought British Caledonian. She was flying to somewhere in the Carribean - fly out, stay a week and then fly back. He could go too whenever he could get a week off. I don't know exactly how accurate this is, but he reckoned she was making £30K/yr - a lot of their allowances were tax-free, paid in cash by the Captain when abroad.

Well, they've lost me as a customer. Booked some business class flights today, would normally fly BA but will now fly with Virgin in future!

You have to wonder what BA management are doing right, if anything. They have managed to destroy once good relationships with their workforce and suppliers. Get themselves found out in a huge dirty tricks campaign against Virgin. Demand their own terminal at Heathrow and screw up the grand opening. Why if life is so precarious in the aviation industry, do I get the feeling, they actually provoked this strike by their actions in November. Now is not the time for some macho posturing, now is the time to get people onside. They asked staff to work for nothing earlier in the year, and Willy Walsh said he would not take his £61,000 monthly pay. Gesture politics. Most of the people who are so pissed off with him, they voted to strike, don't earn that in a year.

Surely this is the equivalent of an aircraft captain complaining because he has to fly the plane now and then?

What did the chief steward(ess)/purser actually do when it was just a supervisory role - I can't imagine that managing 14 trained personnel is that tough that they had to 'step back' from front-line duties to oversee the whole operation for the whole duration of the flight.

Oh well, I'm not planning on flying anytime soon, so they can strike all they want......until they're lining up in the dole queue.
