So each and every person who attends must bring ID to the service and then wait whilst their details are phoned through for clearance.

How many paedophiles have struck at these events recently?

Utterly ludicrous, our society has become.

Utterly ludicrous, but as the saying goes you deserve the government you get. You know the answer, with the last shreds of democracy you can vote these clowns out in May. Its upto you the individual to convince everyone else by reason rather than fear. I weep for my home country, in such a short time it has become a cess pit. I used to pine for home, now i just lament its passing.

Hmm, I wonder if the teacher and the person making the checks have all been checked... And the PCSO who attends of course.

I don't have children so may not understand the paedo paranoia, but my understanding is that your kids are far more at risk if left with a family member than a teacher?

I wonder if the vicars have been vetted...

It is likely they will all have been checked because they work with children. It's a legal requirement, isn't it?

Pretty much definitely.

The problem here is interpretation of legislation. Much of the current government's new laws are badly and loosely worded, meaning that the intended scope of the law isn't always clear. Individual schools and authorities are then left in a quandry as to how to interpret the legislation.

The ridiculous academy of robotic qualification I spend good supercar money on for my overindulged sprogs consistently insist on all manner of screening procedures to ensure the precious little brats don't get sold to some rancid Chinee slave ring.

I'm not quite sure which member of the appalling, provincial, designer suv driving 'professional' brigade they think might be the threat but it does make me chortle.

The mealy mouthed commie goons would have a heart attack if they could see the sort of right thinking, domestic indoctrination I have mapped out for the little cherubs! hehe

This has to be an all time stupid idea. What we need is a ‘Sarah’s law’ so that instead of making everyone a suspect, we can concentrate on watching and suspecting real paedophiles.

So with this system, someone turns up and fails the check. People are going to find out. The trouble is that the system is likely to be screwed up. The damage caused by falsely identifying someone could prove catastrophic. It only needs someone to have similar details to paedophile and incorrectly be refused admission.

The embarrassment and damage to their reputation would be huge. The falsely accused person would be likely to sue for defamation just to clear their name. Who would bear the responsibility; the school, the organisation supplying the information or the person lumbered with the job of checking people at the door?

The school governors are likely to cancel all activities that may lead to the school budget being consumed in litigation. Teachers will refuse to participate if they are personally liable.

People may even start asking why someone didn’t attend, did they fear failing the test?

What they forget is that all it proves is that none of the parents attending the Christmas play were caught for submitting photos of their kids to the local kiddy porn ring. wink

Dear Parent, have you thought that your own spouse could be selling photos of your child in the nude on the internet? Have you? Eh?

Well, yes . . but she's never got any money.

So, unless she's hiding it or taken to mixing crack with her gin on a regular basis can't imagine it at this end . .

I often read articles concerning police action against photographers in public places and how such photographers are regarded as terrorists. It’s a very serious issue. However, I believe that we’re ignoring another serious threat to photography in public. It’s the threat of being regarded as a suspected paedophile.

I’ve travelled extensively with my cameras throughout the British Isles from Lochinver to Ilminster and nowhere have I been badly treated than on the Isle of Man. Last July I went there for a holiday. Within a few hours of arrival, I went into the Villa Marina theatre complex in Douglas to photograph the monochromatic art deco architecture there. I was immediately pointed out by a child, who shouted almost hysterically, “Mum, don’t let that man take my photograph!” I found that the refurbished Villa Marina arcade was a delight to photograph and I stumbled on a recital of Manx music and dance. I take an active interest in the Manx language and culture and while I was photographing the performers, I was subjected to derogatory single and double digit insults from some members of the audience.

Later, I went to Peel to photograph some windswept, early evening views of the castle and beach there. I overheard two children nearby. One said to the other, “Watch out for that cameraman.” I was in a public place at the time. Some days later in the same place, I distinctly heard a child shout repeatedly, “That man’s got a camera!”

I know from recent years experience that the mere act of carrying a camera on the island is sometimes unwelcome. I’m a motorsport fan and I attended the final day of the Rally Isle of Man. Walking past the edge of the service area to photograph the cars leaving for the final stage, with my DSLR in my hand, its lens cap on and pointed towards the ground, a girl of no more than ten years of age shouted, “You dirty brute!” at me. And no, don’t even think about reviewing digital images for possible deletion while on public transport. You’ll risk traumatising the poor little paranoid dears for life!

I would’ve liked to attend the Manx National Day celebrations at St. John’s and also the Viking Festival at Peel. I believe there was a festival in Ramsey at the time of my visit. As for Curragh’s Wildlife Park-forget that and all because of a few brainwashed, paranoid, pushy, gobby little brats who care nothing for my human rights and who would object to my presence. They know their rights and they can get away with their insults and harassment. Any challenge and only the child will be believed.

I suspect it’s something within the Manx education system that brainwashes children into believing that anyone with a camera in a public place is a suspected paedophile. Whoever devised these measures clearly has no photographic knowledge whatsoever. Such indoctrination makes no distinction by way of age or sex as I witnessed a female photographer taking snaps of yachts in rough seas at Peel bay. She was watched warily by a school teacher who had minutes earlier, along with two other teachers photographed her class and all in full view of a webcam permanently trained on the beach. I may accuse some of the Manx people of hypocrisy. I stepped of a bus at Port Erin only to be faced with two teenage girls with a cameraphone, taking photographs of the passengers. Any objection I had may have been legally groundless as I was in a public place.

Such paranoia has already spanned the generations. I went onto Douglas beach to take a few photographs and the visiible looks of terror from all of four adults on the beach, was a picture in itself.

Here’s how it works. Tourists photograph far-flung places as mementoes of their visits. Such imagery may be regarded as chocolate box or picture postcard. When it comes to club competitions or exhibitions, imagery of this nature wins nothing. So it’s all abstract, classic cars, architecture and candid portraits (not of children) for me .If the Manx are so intent upon child protection at the risk of offending tourists then they may begin by switching off all the island webcams. Also, confiscate all camera equipment from any visitor arriving at Ronaldsway or Douglas and issue sets of souvenir postcards on departure. On arrival in Douglas, I saw a sign, “Giving you freedom to flourish.” You could’ve fooled me.

Sorry, but for now and evermore there will be one hotel owner in Douglas who will be several hundred pounds poorer for my absence.

Right now, she is texting her best friend wondering if you are selling photos of your child online. It is best to get a pre-emptive strike in.

Click here and report her NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU LOVE YOUR BABY YOU WILL DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
