Seems to only be affecting west bound traffic at the moment as the area closed off is the North Atlantic.

It was a problem at the Prestwick end of the Shanwick trans-Atlantic control system. Now fixed.

I thought English transatlantic flights were controlled at Swanick. Surely a problem at Prestwick would only affect Scottish flights going west?

For over 50 years, air traffic over the North Atlantic has been controlled through a joint operation between control centres at Shannon in Ireland and Prestrwick in Scotland - abbreviated to Shanwick.
