I know, he wanted them to resign so they didn't pay as much for the councillors.

No wonder the lib debs want him out.

I bet the councillors are a right bunch of PC wimps, and they st it every time this fella opens his mouth!

He's spot on about the Gay Pride parade stuff though. We straight folk don't have a Straight Pride event!

"Last month, he told a national newspaper: "The one thing to be said about the Taliban is that they do have an ordered society of some sort and that they don't have hundreds of cases of children under threat of abuse from violent parents, as we have in Doncaster."

What a knob.

They said:
The motion passed by the council requires the mayor and his cabinet "to undertake to recognise the rich diversity of interests, race and faiths of people resident in Doncaster in the formulation of its policies.
Sounds like a great opportunity to concentrate on the fact that they live in Doncaster, rather than they live in Doncaster, and happen to be gay etc, and focus on the stuff local councils should.

Hopefully half the jobsworth councillors whining about whatever will be out of a role soon. Libdims in there? Top of the list.

I think you are confusing pakistan Militants to the Afghan Taliban. Very different. One group want their country back, the others are terrorists.

It is a dumb thing to say, but I think I can understand what he was implying. About a family unit, they are a rarity in Doncaster.

And the point has been missed by a mile by 3 people!

As said in the article, it was hyperbole to make a point not a serios social commentary.

Jesus Christ the PC idiots are moving into PH now.

I'm glad someone else feels this way.

I didn't see in the quote where he was supporting the Taliban...

Chose a pretty poor example, given the way 'Taliban' treat daughters.

Pity the Taliban don't have vast layers of welfare services provision, just think of the numbers of othwerwise unemployable social workers they could take on, with gold plated pensions. They might even be tempted to establish a trade in narcotics to pay for it all. Or, they could introduce a supertax on the rich with camels worth more than a million puls. Better still, if any beasts have a higher than average level of intestinal methanogenic bacteria, they could implement a parking charge for camels tied up outside tents, but only if they really think of the childwen just like we do.

I love this guy. The fact that he's getting up the noses of the local career politicos tells me he's doing his job. This is the guy who slashed his own salary by more than half, remember! No more subbing Gay Pride events (no problem with them - just no funding).

That story is a piss poor hatchet-job taking a range of blunt remarks out of context.

I hope he goes on to make political waves for the forseeable future. There are too many hand-wringers for someone like him to become PM but he'd get my vote just for being a cantankerous bd.

I think I can see what he meant to say, but the remark was fantastically ill judged.

But, the councillors having enough time to 'table a motion' and vote on it says a lot about their workload, too.

He just needs media training.

This is what happens when straight talking folk are exposed to the media. It is also why our usual politicos talk in politician-speak.

Damned if you do; damned if you don't.

Who's going to give him the media training? The council's "Outward-Facing Equal Opportunities Public Relations Media Diversity Anti-Racism Officer"?

God no, media training is the reason that you can never get a fking answer from anybody on TV anymore.
