It was said that it would happen.... taking advantage of the burkhas.

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Burkha-Ba...

It was often asked that what happens if someone uses a burkha to commit offences, especially since women who use them said it was against their human rights for them to be asked to remove them in public in the UK.... The reply that came back was that no self respecting person would stoop so low to use this to disguise themselves to commit offences...

As policemen are not allowed to approach or touch them under their religon, it seems like the easiest way to defy the police.

Well now it has... whats the next step, banning them completely?

The extreme and almost sensible option is of course to ban people from wearing anything none medical that obscures their face whilst in public / commercial spaces. no difference between wearing a crash helmet with tinted visor or a burkha (with the obvious exception of the helmet actualy having a use)

whats the difference to me wearing a Ninja outfit?

Actually - the difference is if I walked into a bank wearing a Ninja suit they would immediately call the police.

The Burkha outfit obviously wouldn't work.

I actually am at a loss for what is going on in this country.

I am aghast on a daily basis how we got to this state in such a few number of decades

Ah! Those "crazy black ninjas" I was told about in Malaysia. For a Muslim country they don't have a terribly high opinion of burka wearers

Eh?

Since when have “Religious” laws been above the laws of the United Kingdom?

I belong to the PH religion and that states that we members are allowed to drive how they wish with impunity to UK law…..

Maybe under "their laws" the Police can't touch them, I'm pretty sure under our laws they can.

The police are wearing protective clothing and are identifiable . . . . . . the people being "persuaded". maybe what we really need is anybody wearing a burkha to be registered and have to display a registration number on them at all times idea

I'm going to get flamed for this........

maybe we should just start remembering what country we are in

the problem is - going back to my Ninja comment - that if we call the police everytime someone walks into a shop, bank, travel agent wearing a Burka - then we would get accused of racism.

However - there is NO difference between a Burka, a Ninja outfit or a Jedi hooded cloak.

It is all just a load of absolute religious fairy tale bks.

I often see signs saying remove my crash helmet before entering a garage or a shop for the fear of being unidentifiable if I commit a crime.

A Burkha is no different - for me - i'd have a sign up on the front of my shop saying if your face is covered you are refused entry

the ninjas can fk off and shop somewhere else.

The more I hear this st - the closer i'm getting to a 'Falling Down' moment

Exactly....

If people want to wear the Burka, that's fine imo...it's their choice......but you better be prepared to take it off if you are asked to by a shop owner, landlord, bank clerk, police officer, etc......

Forget about 'Offending' the muslim faith, and start thinking about the 'Public citizens' that are offended by it being worn.

Religion & Race is a 2-way street! And that sadly seems to be forgotten at the moment, which is more the Politician's fault than anything as they are the ones bending over backwards to appease Minority groups (I'm genralising here, not talking specifically about Muslims, or religion for that matter) while alienating the Majority.

The Qur'an does not specify that women should cover their face. In many islamic countries the face is left exposed.

The burkha wearers insist its more of a cultural thing as it prevents them from being perved on.

Well frankly ladies, show us your face anyway and if you're minging then you can cover up again. We'll even help you. Oh and if you don't like living in a liberal country where the ladies wear revealing clothes and the blokes perv away to their hearts content, may I suggest moving somewhere more suitable. Basra's nice at this time of year...

Damned right.

Both the original post and the edited version.

You really, really would struggle to invent a situation more stupid than the one that "Political Correctness" has got us into. Ashamed as it makes me to say it, it really looks like the French have got it far, far more right on this one than us.

Maybe the policeman is trying to persuade her/him to remove the ninja garb?

Surely the cloak would give you special powers?
