I'm sure it comes with a history of glowing references.

Not sure what the issue is. Most houses near landfill, industrial sites etc will not mention them in the marketing and they are more likely to leach nasty stuff than a nuclear power station. There are a few pricey houses round my way marketed as "backing onto the delightful River xxx" whilst omitting to mention that on the other bank of the 10 foot wide river is a massive industrial estate whose deliveries start at 6:30am.

You can check all this stuff on google earth, Environment Agency website so it is hardly "hidden" even before you actually visit. This is a council shouting "Ooh, look, we're doing something to justify your massive council tax bill" IMHO.

it's actually very nice done there -- I worked at the power station for a few months and quite liked the area

Power Station or no Power Station I think £247,000 is still over priced for that.

You could always move there then resort to the Statutory Nuisance laws to get the place closed down..

Well it seems to work for people who buy places next to Racing Circuits rolleyes

So quite secluded and by a nuclear powerstaion, so what?? less likely to have power brown outs i'd of thought.

Good spot if you like fishing - the power station has cooling pipes that pump water into the sea, churning it up, the fish love it. Whether you want to eat cod that's been hanging around near a Nuke plant is another matter wink

Dull as it is, living there your health is under more threat from emissions from the reprocessing plant at La Hague. Nuclear power stations don't emit much of anything; accidental emissions of CO2 are about as exciting as it gets from Dungeness B, assuming the bloody thing is actually working and not broken again. The A station is being decommissioned so there's not much danger from that.

True...

I live a mile and a half from Sellafield. The biggest risk is getting run over by the people who work there rushing home.

If you stop and think for a minute I just wonder who told the press about the lack of 'next to power station' in the property details.

Must be the best bit of PR Spin / Free advertising I've seen in ages, although at £247k it does seem a tad pricey! Mind you they can now add 'As seen on TV' so it may sell quite soon.

Just read the Estate Agents Ad, loved the bit about the garage.

Garage: Opened by doors with power and lighting. yikes

Now we know why its 247k

As my old physics master told us (in the Lakes, so not all that far from Sellafield): he'd rather live downwind of a nuclear power station than a conventional power station; the nuclear one might kill you one day, but the conventional one will definitely kill you in the end.

That said, you'd have thought the owners might have put up a hedge or something to shield the view just a little!

I had to do some aerial shots of a caravan park for their advertising. It ea made slighlty difficult by the enormous gasworks about a mile away. I managed to miss it but hav always felt guilty about people seeing the shots and then driving past the gasworks on their way to their holiday paradise hehe
