I am not sure what the driver did; however, the car went up on top of the guard posts lining the sidewalk, thus saving the child.

Oulton Park - Marshal gets knocked over by crashing viper... then the viper passes over his head, and when he gets up theres a rip in his jacket.
Saved only by the fact that the back of the car had been pushed up as it initially connected with the barrier.
