So the parents are interested in money more than their son? Sums it up with the attitude of alot of parents these days. They're constantly looking for free money whether it be from schools or any other large institution/company.
Surely the parents should be sued/jailed for gross neglect of their son?

I'd love to believe this wont get through court sucessfully but it more than likely will.
If I was the judge I'd be coming in to work that day with sparkly green elf shoes (complete with bells on the toes) to show the correct level of contempt for them as I kicked their arses out my courtroom.

Every day you can see children 'playing' with shop escalators and being generally ignored by their parents who are engrossed in their shopping. I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often.
Don't see that it is the shop's fault that what could have been just a bump on the head was fatal.

I wonder just how many yards away the mother was shopping?. Maybe inside the store while the child played outside the store?.
Im sorry but when we go shopping the little rut rat never leaves our sight is either in the seat in the trolly or holding one of our hands!.
I hope this case gets thrown out.

It's sad the poor child died but surely this is best described as an accident? Children swing on things and fall over all the time.
If the floor was in good condition free of holes and clean and the railing was of sufficient strength and in good
condition to support the boy I don't see how the shop can be accountable. I think there is probably a duty of care in an envrironment like a shop to make sure that if things are hung on they wont break and kill somone as the parents will never be 100% aware of what the child is doing. Therefore it only seems right the shope takes that into account. Seeing as the railing probbaly wasnt made of razor blades and glass and the floor didn't resemble the moon it seems fair to class this as an accident.
I would imagine many children a week fallover in the shop and don't die. It really seems like a one in a million accident.

Hmmmmm
More info here, apparently the mom was shopping whilst the promising footballer played monkey on the bars
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1215294/Fo...
However I have noticed the following....
Unmarried parents
"Working Class" (now dole-sponging class I am led to believe)
4 daughters and now one deceased son and a few kids from another relationship (mentioned 15year old step brother)
Liverpool "working class estate"
Football mentioned when not relevant to the death of the child including what a great player he would have been.
Leaving a kid playing on railings
I conclude that they're from the Sharron Matthews class family which would explain the compo claim.
