Till this country stops giving them everything and stops being the land of plenty, this type of thing is going to carry on.

Is it any wonder they want to get here. I hope the Do gooders are proud at what they have created.

In that article, there were 800 migrants - that was April. Now there are 300. 165 have already left France under the Assisted Voluntary Return scheme. I wonder where the rest went? rolleyes

I love the way the French response to the problem is to demand that the UK sign up to the Schengen Agreement. Good idea, chaps - let's remove passport controls for travel between Schengen nations and allow freedom of movement without paperwork! Doh.

What a mess. How on earth can this one be turned around in the longer term? Removing one camp is good, but it's only one camp. And tomorrow there'll be another one to replace it. We need to do something about Britain's reputation as a soft touch.

There's always two sides to a story.
It isn't any surprise to see that Brussels can seek to control the shape of cucumbers in the UK yet have no interest in the rights of people seeking escape from oppression, until they shoulder responsibility for immigration across Europe and introduce legislation that is equal and fair then this wont go away, we are civilised compared to the rest of Europe in this case that's all

It's not just the reputation, it's the fact that we are a soft touch which goes against us.

The fact that people will travel across half of Europe to get here give you a clue about this.

It's simply relocating the asylum seekers to my mind though.

I notice that there were some dreadlocked lentil eaters 'defending' the migrants.

If they're so concerned, why don't they take one home and let them live in their spare bedroom.

It was rammed home to me during the days of the Taliban control. TV and radio banned in Afghanistan, yet Afghans still knew that the country of choice to aim for was the UK.

Because the basement appartment that Matter & Patter had built for them only has one room & the housekeeper wont tidy up if theres more than one person down there wink

I'm not defending grapes, but I've got no sympathy for a lone woman who walks into some woods she knows are filled with shady characters.

I'm not saying she deserved it, but she must have realised the risk she was taking.

It's not just a soft-touch, I'm not even sure that is true anymore.

The UK is a bastion of consumerism and freedom in Europe, far more than any of the other European states. An immigrant becoming successful in say France or Germany is going to be a much harder achievement than it would be in Britain.

Maybe she was brainwashed by the lefty education system into believing all illegal immigrants are nice people?

Quite shocking, and notice that the rape and pillage has spread to local villages too frown No wonder the French want rid of them

yes It's more a case of Europe not shouldering their responsibilities regarding immigration and refugees

I'm bemused by the fact that if they are illegal immigrants to Europe, why don't the French deport them and I don't mean to the Uk.

A quick browse of Google Earth and it appears
These people pass through Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany to France.

Not one boarder control once they get into the EU rolleyes and I suspect that as they are clearly not going to stop in any of the countries they pass through, that the authorities just want then to pass through as quickly as possible.
