Remember BLiar's little speech?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kAhChC_qxU

Well that's obiviously now out of the window

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8265166.stm

That article nearly made me piss my pants. Who do the hell do they think they are kidding? Education standards won't be affected, we're just getting rid of support staff....

For fks sake, maybe I'm an idiot but how is merging schools not going to increase class sizes? And if its so simple to do this why didn't you do this before, you tossers!

Its just goes to show how desperate they are to get elected. Funny how they wait til after the TUC conference to float this one. I would imagine that the teaching unions are going to have a heart attack over this, pay freeze and redundancies, that will go down well with a major labia party donor. I'm no fan of any union nor do I have direct experience of modern schools but pissing off one of the major union groups just before you need funds for an election seems like a really sensible idea to me.

I've said it before and will say it again. What we really want is a party that will stop spending our tax money on the culture of Jeremy Kyle watching, pizza eating, dole scrounging, lager swilling, kappa wearing, Argos jewellery buying,'sickness' benefit claiming, tattooed chav fking pond scum wastes of oxygen who make our country a worldwide joke and that this government with it's 'I've got a syndrome, gimme some money' policies actively encourage.

We don't more cuts to services that are going to lead to more people being so stupid that they are basically unemployable. What we want is a population that is motivated to go to work and is then rewarded for doing so by not having to pay for people who would rather sit on their arses.

Makes me sick.

Round them up, put them in a field and bomb the bds. furious

actually they are getting rid of SENIOR staff, ie those who have been in the job for years and are very experienced

"but said reductions could be made to the number of bureaucrats and senior staff"

If these staff can really be shed without effecting the teaching pupils receive why wasn't it done years ago?

The idea you can cut cost without impacting services is a silly lie being told before an election.

I love the balanced BBC reporting

"Labour 'could save schools £2bn'"

You just know if the Tories had proposed it, it would be

"Tories to slash education spending by £2bn"
followed by lots of quotes about how our children's future will be compromised etc etc

I think you'll find that's why the 'could save schools £2bn' is in quotes. As that is a quote from the Labia Party.

It's okay, with the way the exam 'standards' are going kids will just be issued with their A-grade GCSEs on their first day of school anyway so we won't need teachers.

We've surpassed that now, a 2i is now the equivalent of 5 A-C GCSEs.

Apparently head-teachers and senior staff will be shared between schools.

Apparently, since Labour came in to power and handed them hours of paperwork, they don't do enough.

I assume that, when you were at school, they did this sort of cost cutting thing and evidently got rid of the good English teachers winkbiggrin
