Part of his religion states that he must wear a hood when in public at all times. Tesco stated a no "hoodie" policy and so ejected him from the store yet allowed other people with religous clothing items covering their head to remain in the store.

Is it fair to throw one person out of the store because he believes in one fairy tale which suggests he wear a hooded cloak, but to allow someone else with a hooded garment to remain in store because they believe in another fairy tale?

Plus the Tesco response was a bit unfair, if they had said the same about another religous group "If wearing a hood they might miss our special offers" they'd be had up for racism

Got to admit that reading that did make me chuckle, also wondering if Tescos throw out Muslims, Jews, Monks, nuns and other "religous" types, no difference between Jedi's and any other religion (with the exception of Jedi religion being based on a fiction film rather than a fiction book, no doubt something that would be different if Christianity, Islam etc were invented today)

That's what I thought, all are based on make-believe but seems that only "Jedi" is punished.

It's be mildly amusing if it was just a random person but the fact it's actually the jedi church founder is quality. If has a spare $500k I'd back him to due Tescos for sure laugh

The book came before the film, just the same as the bible came before Life of Brian.

Religion. Some of the stuff that has been written by lucas-arts about Jedi is how they're taken away from their family at an early age, how if the "force" is removed from them, that they're less able than anyone else out there etc. Quite interesting that all of it is completely made up by enthusiasts and then does make you wonder where the actual religious books came from and how they were written...

To my darling Candy. All characters in his book are ficticious and any resemblance to people living or dead is entirely conincidental. smile

A Tesco spokesperson said: 'He hasn't been banned. Jedis are very welcome to shop in our stores although we would ask them to remove their hoods.
'Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Luke Skywalker all appeared hoodless without ever going over to the Dark Side and we are only aware of the Emperor as one who never removed his hood.
'If Jedi walk around our stores with their hoods on, they'll miss lots of special offers.'
Brilliant response from Tesco. Just the right combination of humour and promotion!

There was no Star Wars book.

George Lucas wrote the script with the films in mind. It was a script dedicated for a movie....and not literary publication.

The books all followed afterwards wink

You mean a bit like bhudism then?

Both of which are classed as religions.

Tesco are a bunch of scamming bds, half the offers they advertise throughout the store don't even get taken into account when you make it to checkout.

Last night I bought two large bags of sweets that were advertised as "2 for £3" and a can of deoderant that was advertised on offer at £2. At checkout these items weren't discounted and i was charged the full price. How many people doing their big shops get sucked in by these offers and are completely oblivious they haven't received any discount?

I could have complained but it was late and I couldn't be arsed, so instead I'll fire off an email to Trading Standards.

I've got to agree. Much as I dislike Tesco, it is a quite superb response. hehe
