To be honest, Ramsay has a very valid point there. Certainly my one experience of eating with cutlery lunch at his place in Chelsea was absolutely superb. The food, service and staff were excellent - none of the false bwoing, scraping and fawning that you get in so many provincial faux-posh eateries, just solid, polite and competant service and fking delicious scran.
That Mr Ramsey is in the shabizniz section of the Express is perhaps indicative of his problem and that of the Nu Labia era - everyone wants to be a celeb and celebrity is an end in itself. Ramsey sells himself short somewhat - he's a decent chef and, despite recent setbacks, not a bad businessman - he doesn't 'need' to seek celebrity like some desperate Big Brother contestant.

It would be rather naive to think that Ramsay spends his time cooking in his restaurants anymore, I always thought that the head chef let alone the owner of a restaurant chain has more of a supervisory and QA role, bet the bod on tv thinks that Ronald McDonald still makes the burgers
We ate at his restaurant at 'The London' in New York couple of months back. The staff were rude and organisation was chaotic, the wrong wine was delivered and I had to send my main course back as there was a large piece of plastic in it. Upon leaving we passed through the lobby of the hotel and were positive we saw a hooker plying her trade and then I was 'propositioned' whilst my wife was at the toilet.....
Won't ever go back. The food was beautiful (sans plastique), but the experience was shyte.

To be honest I think it's a boat that's sailed. Ironically the some of the best restaurants in London are not known for their 'chef's but for other things.
Ambience and people not celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary are also very important. He had some magic but now it is gone..
